Beast1979 Posted October 23, 2008 Posted October 23, 2008 I'm surprised no one has mentioned that they have yellow support lying in the midway...and since HH is Friday that means they must be planning on ERECTING it tomorrow. (At least that's my guess.) You hit the nail on the head, the crane is preparing to lift those supports right now. Thank you Don for moving the webcam!
Go Browns Posted October 23, 2008 Posted October 23, 2008 Man that thing is huge!! Also congrats on Post 100 Firehawkboy!
firehawkboy Posted October 23, 2008 Posted October 23, 2008 ^Haha yeah that IS huge!! And thanks "Go Browns"!
tigellinus Posted October 23, 2008 Posted October 23, 2008 ^^Brownies are going to need all the help they can get this season!!
Beast1979 Posted October 23, 2008 Posted October 23, 2008 I can barely see the next support behind the one before it, and pictures are blocked on the School computers. How big is thing?
RailRider Posted October 23, 2008 Posted October 23, 2008 It is very large, honestly in cam the top is out of frame.
BoddaH1994 Posted October 23, 2008 Author Posted October 23, 2008 The latest from Don Helbig: Click here to see the latest Diamondback construction photos!
tigellinus Posted October 23, 2008 Posted October 23, 2008 Sweet pics!! And not to say that I am not, but you're confirming Rail Rider that all is good with the drop angle?? The black arrow in the pic below is basically 74 degrees.
RailRider Posted October 23, 2008 Posted October 23, 2008 The picture of the boom lift next to those 2 massive supports is insane. Really puts in to perspective how large DB is going to be.
RailRider Posted October 23, 2008 Posted October 23, 2008 ^^But what about my angle question?? Well the lift isnt even topped yet and it will need to drop very drastically to connect with the section of the drop that is already installed. I have no fear in the 74 degree angle. We are talking massive lift hill in limited space, thats why they used 40 degrees up and 74 down.
Go Browns Posted October 23, 2008 Posted October 23, 2008 Perspective can do funny things to angles. I'm gonna take Don Helbig's word for it on the 40/74.
Beast1979 Posted October 23, 2008 Posted October 23, 2008 Well Millennium Force is 45* Up and 85* Down, Diamondback doesn't look too dissimilar and it's 40* Up and 74* Down. I bet it's accurate.
pyrocoasterkid Posted October 23, 2008 Posted October 23, 2008 Millennium Force is 45 up and 80 down. Not 85. http://www.cedarpoint.com/public/park/ride...force/index.cfm
specialk141 Posted October 24, 2008 Posted October 24, 2008 working lat tonight... adding another portion to the left side of the big support right now. they must really want to get this lift done! either that, or i guess like someone said, with portions of the supports out in the midway i suppose they have to get it finished before haunt tomorrow night.
Beast1979 Posted October 24, 2008 Posted October 24, 2008 That's rediculous, they're topping off the tallest support in the ride at 8:00 at Night!
Beast1979 Posted October 24, 2008 Posted October 24, 2008 Topping off of the Tallest Support in the ride:
Rollercoast19 Posted October 24, 2008 Posted October 24, 2008 Thanks for the update guys!! I quit watching around 7 p.m. thinking they were done for the day.
RingMaster Posted October 24, 2008 Posted October 24, 2008 Makes you wonder if they're gonna try and put that last chunk of straight lift track up tomorrow and wait til next week to cap off the lift hill. EDIT: Oh, and 800 POSTS WEWTBURGERS!
firehawkboy Posted October 24, 2008 Posted October 24, 2008 It seems they are having some allignment issues with that support.
tubaman Posted October 24, 2008 Posted October 24, 2008 Well, from just now looking, it seems they are it in place. I can't wait!
gigacoaster2k Posted October 24, 2008 Posted October 24, 2008 Millennium Force is 45 up and 80 down. Not 85. http://www.cedarpoint.com/public/park/ride...force/index.cfm You took the words right out of my mouth, I was about to get mad and defend my precious Millie. I laugh at those who compare DB to MF.. DB is a LOT closer to Nitro and Behemoth.. I had the impression that all coaster enthusiasts knew this..
The Interpreter Posted October 24, 2008 Posted October 24, 2008 and for that, we can all be thankful. Terpy, who just HAD to (and who is about 2/3 teasing!)
Jasper Posted October 24, 2008 Posted October 24, 2008 Wont they wait to top the lift off after the rest of the coaster is finished? What if for the Third Coming we got to see the topping off ceremony!
gigacoaster2k Posted October 24, 2008 Posted October 24, 2008 and for that, we can all be thankful. Terpy, who just HAD to (and who is about 2/3 teasing!) Sorry. I still love you guys. I just tend to get a little irritated sometimes when facts are constantly misrepresented.
jonnyvelvet Posted October 24, 2008 Posted October 24, 2008 I love watching this ride come together at night!! How interesting!!!
Ohiocoasterman Posted October 24, 2008 Posted October 24, 2008 Well I take it they are not going to be working tomorrow seeing as though they are still working at 11:55pm almost tomorrow.
