DeLorean Rider
Counterfeit re-entry tickets have become such a problem at disney that the parks have finally altered the layout of the re-entry tickets. Notice these auctions. http ://cgi.ebay.com/26-Disney-World-FastPa...QQcmdZViewItem http ://cgi.ebay.com/26-Disney-World-FastPa...QQcmdZViewItem This ^ auction is very clearly for counterfeit re-entry tickets. Several things point this out. Look at this photo of the passes for sale: The spacing in the perferation is incorrect, the ticket is too thin, the quality of the print is too shabby, and the heading is too small. It IS true that at one point disney gave out re-entry tickets that did not have an expiration date on them however they were still printed on the same printers as the fastpasses, thus the paper is the same in every aspect. Here are a couple of pictures to help show what I mean. The pass in the upper left corner is the type of re-entry ticket that has been given away over the last year and a half or so. They were good untill the end of the month with the small expiration date. The pass on the top is the NEW design that is only valid for 2 weeks with the very large expiration date. Both passes on the bottom are fakes. The one on the bottom left is a very poor quality fake. It is printed on an ink, jet printer as the ink will smudge simply by getting wet. The one on the bottom right is better quality but still fake. It is actually printed on heat sensitive paper as all the fastpasses and re-entry tickets are. Reguardless both fakes are CLEARLY too thin and the heading is way too small. Even when the re-entry tickets looked like the bottom ones they were printed on the same paper as the ones on top with the large heading, on heat sensitive paper. When disney recieves the paper for all the fastpasses and re-entry tickets the heading for whatever they are for is already on the ticket. The counterfeits clearly have the heading printed on them at the same time as the rest of the ticket. Disney has as of this month declared that we are NOT supposed to accept any of the re-entry tickets without a date on them. Unless they are the style of the ones in the upper right hand corner they are not to be accepted. In addition if they are visibly counterfit, we need to notify our supervisor and it will be taken care of. The other minor problem is people using and selling expired fastpasses saying that the cast members never look at the date: http ://cgi.ebay.com/44-Disney-Fastpass-Fas...QQcmdZViewItem To counter this disney has changed the layout of the average fastpass as well. Clearly now the date is in the center and the cast members have to look at it while checking the time. No longer can someone cover the date with their thumb. Typically the problem here wasn't people selling them online but rather gettin the passes one day on their vacation and trying to use them a different day. Just thought you may find this interesting. Guest TombraiderTy
My family is guilty of using expired ones, but nothing worse than that. Of course, scanning the tickets would eliminate practically all the problems, but at the same time it could lengthen the wait. What's Disney's policy on ticket usage that are past their time but not the date?
flightoffear1996
I have to say Kings Island is bad at check passes too at the main gate. I accidently handed them my season pass from 2 years ago. They scanned it and let me in twice doing that. I think they should have caught something. I even saw a red X show up on the screen as I walked by.
DeLorean Rider
My family is guilty of using expired ones, but nothing worse than that. Of course, scanning the tickets would eliminate practically all the problems, but at the same time it could lengthen the wait. What's Disney's policy on ticket usage that are past their time but not the date? The policy is that as long as it's after the first time, it doesn't matter when you come back. If you get a ticket early in the morning that says return between 9:00-10:00 (yes that time is given out), you could use it any time the whole day. As long as you wait the initial amount of time you can come back whenever. For those that aren't completely clear on the policy, the ticket gives you a time to come back. Untill that time comes up you cannot get another fastpass; because technically you're waiting in line for that attraction without physically being in line. The theory is that you cannot be waiting in two lines at the same time. However in the case of some of the VERY popular attractions on crowded days; if you time frame is more than 2 hours away, then you can get another fastpass after 2 hours. You should always be able to get a fastpass every 2 hours.

We will be in MK on Oct 4 and on Oct 5 for the MNSSHP I think tonight is the first MNSSHP party this year, make sure you see Hallowishes it is awesome. Down here until January. I actually worked Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party last night. The Jungle Cruise isnt open so I'll either work on the treat trails or on the parade crowd control. Chances are I'll be working both the 4th, 5th and 7th of October. I agree Happy Hallowishes is pretty awesome. I saw the 4th of july fireworks this year and I think hallowishes is better. Both because the non-firework parts are really cool, the music is amazing, and there are still some pretty amazing perimeter fireworks. Honestly though my favorite thing is the parade. It's incredible. I cant describe it much better. The headless horsemans run in the beginning is about the coolest thing I've ever seen in a disney parade. Avatar
Good to hear you are able to see some of the great festivities while you’re working. Maybe you did, but I hope you got to see the Villains show in front of the castle too. Yeah I have seen the 4th of July’s firework show on high definition and I agree the music sound track and non firework light show on and around the castle make Hallowishes a must. When I went last year I went in thinking it was just going to be just another day at MK with just some extra activities, Boy was I wrong! The whole lighting package, shows and everybody (young and old) running around in costume made me feel like I was at a completely different park. So I decided it is a must do again this year and this time I’ll be in costume too. The Boo To You parade is supper cool. The sound track is hard to get out of your head tough. Kids just love it! The headless horsemans run in the beginning is about the coolest thing I've ever seen in a disney parade. I was surprised when we first saw the parade 4 years ago. The horseman is rather scary for the young ones, and he comes through the parade route pretty fast. The kids favorite parts where the Alice trail and collecting all the candy. We are going Sept 27 – Oct 6 and stay at POP Century Resort and of course taking advantage of the free dinning package. We are going down Oct 5th - 11th. Will be either at the Dolphin or Swan for the first half of the week, then the Disney Wonder for the 2nd half. Assuming that the number of tropical storms start to die down by then. Avatar
Wow a Disney cruise that would be nice, I bet you are excited! I have wanted to do that for a while myself. I hope when you come back that you take some time and share your experience with us, I don’t think I have seen a trip report of a cruise on here yet. We go down every year at this time and get a bit worried from the storms in Aug – early Sept but they always seem to go away by the time we get there. So I think having several storms in a row it will let up like it has in the past. The Boardwalk area at Disney is really cool too, enjoy. DeLorean Rider
Honestly though my favorite thing is the parade. It's incredible. I cant describe it much better. The horseman is rather scary for the young ones, and he comes through the parade route pretty fast. The kids favorite parts where the Alice trail and collecting all the candy. The coolest thing I think is that the rider does not control the horse at all; the horse is trained to run the whole parade route despite all of the destractions that the Magic Kingdom has just before a parade. If you want to see something cool, check this out: This is the new cast member Halloween Costume for the Not-So-Scary partys. The girls on the other hand wear a long skirt that is the same color as the pants, and instead of a vest have a cute apron and wear a bat on their head instead of as a bow-tie. RailRider
Avatar, I also like the new avatar. I have not experienced Disney Cruises yet, but have some family that has and they say it is a great experience. Although I havent been on Disney yet, I am a frequest cruiser of Royal Carribean and my only recomendation is stay away from Nassau Bahamas, stay on the boat or go to Atlantis. That town has gone down hill. Enjoy the upcoming festivities, what costume will your daughter be wearing this year? I always enjoy your disney pictures because Rae is always sporting a new princess outfit. Why do I see this in my future in the next few years? Will be either at the Dolphin or Swan for the first half of the week, then the Disney Wonder for the 2nd half. Assuming that the number of tropical storms start to die down by then. We go down this Saturday (9/13). We're staying at Pop Century this time (after All Star Music in '06 and All Star Movies in '07). We're meeting some friends for dinner on Saturday. Sunday is the Supercalifragilistic character breakfast at Grand Floridian, followed by pool time at the resort, followed by a trip to Boardwalk in the evening. Monday 9/15 is Magic Kingdom, Tuesday is visiting my dad and stepmother who live in Orlando, and then we're going with them to Disney Studios on Wednesday next week. Thursday it's off to Daytona Beach. We're not doing the MNSSHP as I don't really see the point in paying an additional $43-50 per person just for a few more hours and a few more events (which my little one would probably be asleep through anyway since it's so late. There's plenty of stuff for us to do already, especially with only getting a day each in the two parks we chose to go to this year.
Avatar
DeLorean Ride – thanks for all the info and I love your inside info. One question for you; is that you in the picture? I like the look of those uniforms I bet they show up in the dark very well. RailRider thanks for the compliment on the avatar, we had that picture taken at EPCOT last year in the Imagination building with Figment. Below is the bigger image of it. As far as Miss Rae’s princess gowns; we always buy the nicer more expensive ones from the Disney store after Halloween for a greatly reduced price. Miss Rae doesn’t grow fast so we are lucky to get long uses out of them (she still fits last two years). So she is supposed to be wearing Tinker Bell this year but I really didn’t like that choice and Miss Rae wants to be Princess Giselle, so well see. I did not do a trip report of last years 15 day Disney trip but wished I did so expect one this year. The reason you see this in your future is because as you have learned, every girl is a princess in their daddy’s eyes. Just remember they grow up fast so embrace the moment and take her to meet her imagination. XGatorHead8904 – great to hear you are going too! Sounds like you have a nice trip planed with family and friends complete with breaks between parks. I think you’ll like POP, everything is close in the resort area, dedicated buses and their food court is good. I don’t know how old your little one is so you know best about MNSSHP maybe next time. Also I was worried about the price and what could we do in that little time and I got to tell you I was shocked and would pay more for that kind of entertainment. I’m jealous of your Daytona day; we did that last year and had a great day riding waves on an extremely windy day.
XGatorHead 8904
My little one's only 3, and the last two years she's conked out by the time the park closes. Although this year she's lasted entire days at KI from open to close. And your right, I know my little girl is a princess (she'll even tell you that herself)! It's great seeing the different parks through her eyes, and the changes in her at them every year. Her first trip to MK, two years ago, the only characters she knew at that time were Pooh and Friends. The following year she knew most of them but was a little shy around them. This year she knows even more, and if her reaction this year to the Nick and HB characters she didn't know is any indication, we definitely won't have that shyness problem this year! My mother-in-law has a condo in Daytona, right on the beach, so we split our Florida trips between Orlando and Daytona. I like looking out of the living room there and seeing the ocean, it's a lot different than the view I have at my house! But we love the beach, Mini-Me has such a great time playing in the sand and waves. And back on topic, thanks DeLorean for the FastPass info, I wish I would have known some of this last year. We went to Epcot, I got a FastPass for Test Track (which they were still constructing the last time I was there), and there was a thunderstorm during my assigned time. Once the storm passed, it was past the end time on my FastPass so I thought I couldn't use it any more. So I have still yet to ride it. Oh well, this year I get to look forward to my first time on Rock 'n' Roller Coaster as well as Toy Story Midway Mania, and another ride on the great Tower of Terror. luff
Wow. 3 trips in a row. It must be KIC month at Disney! XGatorHead - Great to hear you are going too. 3 Years old is a great time for Daddy and his princess. My daughtor (5) just picked Sams Club Tinker bell for her costume. For her, the beginning of the year was all about being like Giselle. Avatar - Great picture. How old is your daughter? Mine is petite for her age, but now that she is above 40 inches, we can do more riding as a family instead of splitting up. One parent on the bigger rides with the oldest while the other goes on the smaller rides with the youngest. One advantage we have for staying up late at the MNSSHP is the fact we live in the central time zone. 11pm is only 10 in the kids clock. CoastersRZ
And to jump on the Disney trip bandwagon, I leave for Orlando Friday morning for a Disney trip/thesis research trip for school. Who could imagine that a Disney trip could be both a vacation as well as a research/school related trip? The joys of studying architecture, especially entertainment architecture.
The Interpreter
Studying architecture could indeed be entertaining, but not unlike studying engineering to design coasters, one must not only have the desire, but the aptitude and willingness to apply oneself to a degree most can only imagine. You have all that in spades, and will do well...to put it another way, you are on sound...uh....footers? Terpy, who just had to and just HAD to...
