If nothing else, CF needs to pop out $500 and give FD a paint job, even if it's the same color. Seriously. If they're throwing seatbelts onto everything this year to give riders a psychological calming effect, then they should keep the paint up to date so the portion of the public that's afraid of roller coasters because of Final Destination 3 don't think the track on FD's going to break apart as they ride it.

Painting Flight Deck would cost a lot more than $500. I think you'd be stunned to know just how much more. Suffice it to say, you could probably build a small wooden coaster for what it would cost to paint Flight Deck these days.

As for the seatbelts, think secondary restraint. It has nothing to do with psychological factors and everything to do with insurers and legal concerns.

The last time Paramount Parks built a large wooden roller coaster at Kings Island, it threw a lot of peoples' careers into a loop, to put it mildly. Besides, small and medium sized wooden coasters are often more fun than large wooden roller coasters. And, finally, given the current financial milieu, should Flight Deck be sold or moved, Kings Island would probably get, at most, a new show--or maybe a used coaster from Valleyfair.

When the Spider of Doom alights on Vortex or Flight Deck, then we will know...

Ooops, wrong park...

Terpy, who notes the Spider of Doom has alit on Medusa's sign. . . and who thinks it might be more appropriate if said spider were sitting atop the Six Flags portion of the Great Adventure sign

Haha!! Very funny!!

But in all seriousness, do you believe any of the Medusa rumors?? For what it's worth, in my three GAdv visits this year (I slacked, I know!!) each time Medusa was my 2nd ride of the day (following some ET power riding), and usually before 11:30 am, or very close thereabout! (despite the 12-noon opening allegations <_< )

Why paint it, when its going to be removed in the next few years...

Ok Rail Rider theres a point when rumors die.....

Well its not a rumor, its fact...

Seriously I thought you were better than most picking up on sarcasim.

Yes I know there is a point rumor's must die, but this rumor and The Vortex rumor show up every year as we get close to the off seasson. So it should die, but it wont. Im just doing my part to make fun of it in my own way.

In regards to to how much it would cost to paint Flight Deck. Well I recently looked at having the rooms of the home I just sold in Springboro painted. I was quoted $1-$2 a sq. ft. and that didn't include supplies!!! So if your looking at a 1500 sq ft house that would be $1500 to $3000 in labor alone? I think you will agree it is a lot less labor intensive to paint a house than a coaster, so dont count on that new paint scheme any time soon.

Well once we drop this around December there will be rumors of Vortex not coming back soon. There will also be some rumors about SoB and its possible demise and Im sure there will also be some rumors about the demise of Nick U, although there might be some validity there.

Trust me just have fun with it and laugh at the folks that believe it.

Well, Ninja at SFMM (very comparable to Flight Deck) was just very recently painted either last year or earlier this year, and I think the cost was like $1+ million?

Yeah Flight Deck doesn't look so good but is a fun ride that should be a must when going to KI...Besides isn't it in the top ten best suspended coasters in the world?
