WooferBearATL
I really like that they're doing auditions so early. Not since before Paramount has there been such a concentration on entertainment. Looks like we can expect more shows next year.
guy1115
They have always done auditions in early Novemeber for the next season. Then they usually follow up with a second round in late February, early March.
RingMaster
Looks like they're going for "Quantity Over Quality" again next year. It's better to have one or two really good, high-quality shows, than have three or four mediocre-at-best, horrendous-at-worst shows just to fill all the show venues. guy1115
And how do you get that out of anything that has been said?
Braves0511
Too bad I live two hours away and my drum set isn't worth putting back together and dragging it to Ball State. Drumming in a KI show would be a lot of fun.
CedarPointer
CF tends to have really top-notch shows for a non-theme park chain. I didn't see any of the KI shows, but All Wheels Extreme and Misadventures of Molly and Maverick were pretty good.

Drumming in a KI show would be a lot of fun. If you are interested, I would call the entertainment office and see if they are going to be looking for live musicians. It has been on their poster for years, including this past year, and they hired none this year.
Rollercoast19
I would love to be a technician, but sadly I have no previous experience.
guy1115
Experience isn't always the most important thing. Availability, the will to want to learn, and an extremely good work ethic are more important. Plus, wanting to get into the field also helps. Just know that you will start at the bottom, and will need to work your way up (just like anywhere else). It is important to know that there is a lot more to be a tech than just running 4-5 shows a day. There are always opportunities for more experience like concerts, special events, 4th of July, Haunt, etc.
The Interpreter
Experience isn't always the most important thing. Availability, the will to want to learn, and an extremely good work ethic are more important. Plus, wanting to get into the field also helps. . . . Talent is also required. Just a for instance....Old Terpy could easily have had availability, the will to want to learn and an extremely good worth ethic...and would want to get into the field...but old Terpy had and has all the dramatic and musical talent of the average boulder...actually, less...Boulders usually don't annoy people with their efforts to sing and/or dance. Tee hee....(now, don't ask about logic, writing ability or analysis...as Terpy will NOT tell you he has no talent in those areas...rather, he will talk your ear off...) guy1115
Never said it wasn't required.....just not always the most important thing, especially starting out as a entry level technician! But yes, some knowledge is necessary!
hamoperator
Is there an age requirement? Peanut wants to try out
iChase
I'm considering trying out to be a musician but I've yet to see a show with any live musicians.
CoastersRZ
Well, they had live musicians at Twistin` to the 60`s in the International Showplace last summer. And they also had live musicians for School of Rock: Live in Concert in 2005 and 2006.
Winterfestguy
Would be nice to see musicians return to any of the show venues at KI. It would be nice to see a show similar to School of Rock return to the Kings Island Theater or something other than an ice show.
The Interpreter
Be careful what you wish for. If Mark Shapiro were in charge, you'd almost certainly not have the ice show. You would probably have either nothing at all (as in the venue would be dark), or you'd have a DVD of some Dick Clark Production from, say, 1968...and full of ads for sponsors, too! thatbandguy8807
does anyone know if they are going to try hiring anyone for instruments say like a trombone? I have left emails and tried calling the number but they haven't responded at all. I have tried many times sending many emails and also calling on the phone with no success
Shman
You are not going to get ahold of anyone right now at the park, as I believe most of the staff...including full timers, are actually on break away from the park now. The park is auditioning instrumentalists during the Entertainment Auditions, I belive this also includes brass instruments. With the success of the Clown Band reunions at the park this year, I would not be too surprised if the park tried to throw something similar together for next season.
