DropZone99
Well I'm old enough to work at KI, but I live in Indianapolis which is way too far! Once I turn eighteen I will apply and make my way up from there!
The Interpreter
I well remember a time that a Garfield park was proposed for Indy. I often fantasized about a giant Eiffel Tower-type Garfield standing in a pan of lasagna fountains spurting red water in a yellowish cheese colored basin! The Beast Rider
I remember when that was talked about, it was supposed to be great. I wish they had built it. If I remember right, it was supposed to have two wooden coasters to start with.

Avatar
What? They did build Garfield Park in Indy clear back in 1873, and it has lots of fountains. I have many memories in that park as I have watched many performances there and even played in one as a little one. My daughter has even participated in activities there. It is a nice park with many affordable activities. Check it out http://www.garfieldgardensconservatory.org/ As far as KI hiring, I just watched on our 5PM news that KI is hiring and telling those here in the area what they should do if they are looking to work at KI. P.S. Terpy if you remember when they proposed Garfield Park, then we may have a new world record.

BoddaH1994
I might apply to work in entertainment. Maybe as an usher or something. Simple, yet important...

That's a city park, Garfield's American Adventures was a proposed amusement park that didn't make it much farther than land clearing. It was going to be in Moorseville and feature a few coasters. Avatar
Yes I was funnin Terpy as I remember that proposal and a few other fly by night parks that never happened too. But still if age equals wisdom then Terpy could have been a planner of the Garfield Park, as he displays great wisdom daily.

Avatar
You know If I ever got a chance to work at KI I would love to be a VIP guide. To me that would be an awesome experience, to show and tell KI to those who would like to know more about KI. I think some members on here would also make great VIP guides. The Interpreter
I have several very good friends who do that at Great Adventure. They love their jobs, and the guests who get them as guides do indeed get a great adventure.
Avatar
Some jobs are rewarded by monitory value but I think a job like that is rewarded but guests satisfaction and knowing you helped someone have a memorable day.

CoastersRZ
That is because a lot of the maintenance jobs are full time positions. Some of the seasonal maintenance jobs might already be filled. As far as rewarding experiences, I know I`ve shared some of my ride op experiences from Coney Island on these boards before. Back when in my second or third year of working at Coney, we stayed open after a big storm rolled through around 4 in the afternoon. We stayed open because several kids from Big Brother and Big Sisters were coming to the park. I was operating the Spin a Ree (which is now in storage at the park). Once the children started showing up, one of the kids face lit up when I let him into the ride area. He turned to me as he entered and said "I remember you from last year. You were that nice guy running the helicopter ride!" As he walked in to grab a seat in a tub, he had a big grin on his face. That right there is what makes being a ride operator so much fun to me, even if the pay is not the greatest. If I`m having a bad day, all I have to do is think about the fact that the people that are visiting the park may only get to visit once a year. I need to be friendly and courteous to them, because they are here to have fun and hopefully make wonderful memories. Hopefully, some of my enthusiasm for my job shines through and they can share some of the same fondness to the subject that I have. Even though I`ve never officially worked at Kings Island (I have volunteered in the volunteer program in foods and games on numerous occasions), I can say the job can be very rewarding, although stressful at times. I speak with the experience of seven years at Coney under my belt.
indianapolisman
That is because a lot of the maintenance jobs are full time positions. It would have to be a full time job. We would have to relocate. That's down the road anyway.
