New Triains on SOB Anytime soon?

Featured Replies

I was just curious about the trains on SOB if they were going to get new ones in the next few years or not??? Those train's are going to get people torn up even more then they already do. I'm 5'8" and they kill my legs. The trains are not even made for all ages it seems like either so don't get me wrong on that. Please give me your thoughts on what will be done about it.....

One other thing is SOB is a awsome coaster but Beast is my top pick. SOB needs to get work done on ride comfort for all ages on it. mad.gif

Theres a alotta space in the front seat! thats where i go all the time! blink.gif

The back is the biggest. Most air time also.

The back is also the roughest. On any wooden coaster, the middle seat of every car is the smoothest.

I always sit up front i have never EVER sat anywhere but the front seat...but iam gonna check out the middle now...is the middle rough on The Racer? unsure.gifblink.gifhuh.gif

I can take the roughness in the back, but its well worth all the air time. next time you ride Scooby ride backseat. It rules. cool.gif

Backwards Racer is smooth everywhere you go. SOB is just as rough everywhere. From what I hear they are getting work done on the trains/track. That's not official, but just gossip.

I'm surprised no one has brought this up yet! CROSS YOUR LEGS WHEN YOU RIDE! I've ridden it both ways and I do notice that crossing your legs does help. Well, for me at least.

Ahhh, the old cross your legs and put your heels all the way back. I remember that. I said it way too many times.

I would assume that if there were enough complaints and the amount of riders on SOB dropped like FoF did, perhaps they'd think about a change. I don't know if they'd get new trains since those are soooo expensive, but perhaps they could modify them some way. I'm 6'1" tall and very uncomfortable riding SOB and would not mind a change one bit.

Im 6 2' and i guess i fit in the one back seat just right because it isnt very uncomfortable. its crazy

I'm 6'4" and love the ride when I can get a smooth ride on it. Although I can't wait until this year comes around to get a ride!

Thankyou guys I hope there are some changes for work being done on the trains for this season. biggrin.gifcool.gif

im about 6'2 and i havent had much problems riding SOB. its a great ride and think it runs just fine. as for getting new trains, i dont think that PKI would fork over money to get new trains to replace the old ones that dont really have any problems at all. wouldnt make any sense.

I'm 6'6" and all the seats on SOB are uncomfortable to me. Gotta cross my legs, and push down, and then just barely, the lap bar will clear my knees. if they got rid of those stupid slants at the front of each car, i'm sure getting in would be a bit easier.

The slants are for areodynamics. Take them away and it'll run a little slower.

SOB is one of my favorite rides i love how the First hill.. is even if it takes a 1min to get up! biggrin.gif

The Son is great but it needs more tunnels nothing i mean nothing beats The Beast AT NIGHT! biggrin.gif

I don't think that the slants in the first seat of every really effect aerodynamics that much. All you do is put your feet on them. If they made those flat, I'm sure it would be a bit more comfortable.

The slants are there so your legs fit in a position where you can't get out of the seat.

Thought you meant the slant on the front of the cars. Sorry. I think the slants in the cars help me hold the lap bar up so it doesn't smash my guts. But then again I'm not that tall.

Yea those foot boards make the ride a little more uncomfortable for me. The first year they did not have them, and people were riding with loose laps. I'm thinking they should get the Y shaped restraints that they planned at first.

If you're refering to the type of lap bar that CP has on Millennium Force, then yeah, that would be great! Those things are extremely comfortable and give you a feeling of more freedom in the legs.

Yes, I am and reading the press release on a website it said "Y-Shaped lap bar"

If you want to see those lap bars Here is a site those are the bars taht would be found on Millenium Force. Notice no outside bars to stop your legs from going under. I think that PKI would have benefited from going with the Y shaped, and guys don't worry they don't bother you.
