Aaron88stang
You know I like the new Time Machine name and theme. I am curious as to what they are doing with the rest of the coasters.
Diamondback FOF
Will be interesting to see how it survives this year, but the prices are still a bit high - especially because the cutoff age for "children" is 10. What parent wants to pay full price for a 10-year-old? At KI, I believe the cutoff height is 48" and most children at the age of 10 are taller than 48". luff
At parks a Child should be defined by height, not age. I was at a buffet last week where they charged the kids by their height, not age.
The Interpreter
In days of old, some buffets charged children by their weight. I have not seen that done for quite some time...

I dont know how a theme park and a beach town have similarities or a theme park which had lands themed to Egypt, Greece, Rome etc compares to a park themed to music? Then again Im not paid the big bucks for providing theme park advice and catchy phrases...
RailRider
In less than 48 hours HRP errr FMP will open its doors, that is if the current lawsuit is overturned. WMBF Interesting article on the changes at the park and what to expect. I am still amazed at ticket prices and that there is not a starlight admission. Especially seeing as how during the first two weeks the park will only be open from 4pm to 10pm, yet you still pay full price as you would when the park is open 11am to 10pm. That makes no sense, the pricing strategy makes no sense honestly.

XGatorHead 8904
Has anyone heard/read any rumors about what they're doing with Nights in White Satin? I wish that I could have ridden it since I love The Moody Blues. The current park map just says "Coming Soon" where that ride was.

Diamondback FOF
What kind of name is Freestyle Music Park? It is a name that has to do with music to sorta keep with the original theme. Also, it's a name that was come up with quickly, like Flight Deck, Invert...
The Interpreter
Wrong and wrong. It's the name of the corporate owner from Moscow. They intend to start a chain of Freestyle parks and already had one...it's just a happy coincidence (or not) that it refers to a style of music as well. Also, Invertigo as a name of that type of coaster pre-dated Face/Off by a year, and was in use by Paramount Parks before Face/Off even opened. Terpy, who is reminded of that old saying about what happens when you assume...

RailRider
Well Freestyle Music Park opened as planned over the weekend. Article from the Sun News regarding opening along with some pictures from opening day. Looks like a good turnout for seasson pass processing, but the park looks fairly empty. The SunNews Pictures of Opening Day Also for those interested, Nights In White Satin is reopened as Monsters of Rock, a mainly 2-D dark ride shooter, that has gotten not so great reviews. RailRider
Awesome bit of news about the park and an increase in admission prices. Seeing as how they obviously learned nothing from HRP failure, Freestyle has raised admission price for adults from $39.95 to $42.95 and childrens from $29.95 to $32.20. I must say this is an excelent move on FMP part. Good job one week down in to the seasson and its time to raise admission prices. Get ready for park failure #2. Diamondback FOF
From Screamscape: Even though the park has been open only a week so far, if you check out the current ticket prices on the website you’ll notice a small price increase has gone into effect, bumping up the Adult price from $39.95 to $42.95 and kids tickets rose slightly from $29.95 to $32.20. Edit: RailRider beat me to it.

The Interpreter
If you ask Freestyle Music Park marketing director John Stein how business has been at the Grand Strand's newest amusement park, he will tell you business has been exceeding his expectations. But on Friday when WMBF news visited the park, things didn't look busy. "This is what we expect as far as business this time of day and this time of year," said Stein. WMBF toured the park around 6 p.m. Friday as storm clouds filled the sky, but Stein said business has been right on track. We asked him if he had the numbers to show us and he says he does, but just does not release the figures to the public and media. When we asked why, Stein said it was "just policy."... http://www.wmbfnews.com/Global/story.asp?S=10448365
Oldiesmann
If business is at or exceeding expectations, then why did they need to suddenly raise admission so early into the season? If you want to raise prices, doing it in season is not the way to go...
The Interpreter
Really? Six Flags and both Paramount Parks and Cedar Fair have often raised admission prices, parking prices, food prices, game prices and the like in mid-season, often shortly after the 4th of July...but I have never known them to raise the gate price about a week after a park opened!
RailRider
Agreed Terpy, absolutely the worst strategy I have ever seen. I can understand an admissions jump latter in the seasson, but this early makes me wonder if the park is still open in July or August if they will not bump admission prices again. Maybe they should be concerned with attracting more guests than raising prices at the gates, because from what I hear crowds have been very light. AintNutinElse2Do
Looks like Screamscape corrected the thing about the ticket increase... as the price shown was after tax while the base price remained the same.
RailRider
Freestyle Music Park Ticket Prices Interesting explanation on Screamscape, but very interesting no mention of taxes rolled in to cost on FMP website. This may be the case, but it makes me wonder... FMP needs to be more careful with actions like this because since this has been noticed, negative chatter has ran rampant online. Negative publicity is not good publicity for this park.
The Interpreter
Guests don't care how the price is allocated. If the price to get in has increased to them, they see it as such. If the park was mistakenly quoting prices without tax in the past, that's its mistake...

The Interpreter
Freestyle Music Park Throws Pricing Integrity To The Wind: $8.88 for a theme park ticket? Freestyle is just that desperate: ...That insanely low price of $8.88 per ticket (if you buy two) is good for admission before 4 p.m., but if you show up after then, you'll pay $17.76 per person, or half what a typical Six Flags ticket might cost. (And those are already mighty cheap.)... But you'd better get your rides in soon. The last day of the park's season is Sept. 20, and considering the dramatic bargains available in what should be peak season, I wouldn't expect a reprise in 2010. http://www.walletpop.com/blog/2009/07/10/8...that-desperate/
