Atomheartmother616
We too have a friend in waiting as he is not a passholder either. He is just gonna wait and or possibly sleep in the car as we ride. No harm no foul.

No harm no foul. i would love to do that. as terrible as that sounds but my mom is dropping me and two friends off. so he would have to wait alone, because our other friend isn't coming until later and i can't do that to him. i hope it's awesome
The Interpreter
Why not? He can enjoy other rides in the park while waiting on you. It's not that big of a deal...and you could miss out on a very short line. Or he could upgrade his ticket to a gold season pass...and join you. catzdrummer09
How does one upgrade and what would that cost?
The Interpreter
It costs what the pass you want to upgrade to currently costs minus whatever you paid for your admission or your current pass. You upgrade with proof of purchase for that day's admission, at the season pass windows.

So if I have a single day ticket that I got from my union for like 28 bucks and wanted to upgrade would I pay the difference of that or the difference of a full price ticket and a pass? Also...do regular season passes count in ERT or just Gold?
Atomheartmother616
I mean if I understand the ert correctly theres good odds your gonna be on and off the ride by the time the park opens..

Also...do regular season passes count in ERT or just Gold? Your ticket should have its value listed on its face. And for ERT you need a gold or platinum season pass. Gold passes are the best value as opposed to regular, as they include, at present, season pass parking free...the regular ones do not, nor do they come with gold pass benefits. Platinum passes include gold pass benefits and include admission and parking at all Cedar Fair parks! It is my understanding the prices go up late May (around the 24th), and the gold goes away as an option.
CoastersRZ
Additionally, while it would be typical to assume that you could ride Diamondback in the hour of ERT on Saturday before the park opens, there is also the chance since it is opening day, that you might not be able to ride it in an hours time if a LOT of pass holders show up for the ERT on Saturday, especially with the weather forecast. If your friend does not have a gold pass, but wants to ride Diamondback, you could always ride it in the early evening. The park is open until 10pm, and Diamondback should get decent capacity if everything runs smoothly all day. Keep in mind that when Firehawk opened two years ago, I waited in line for it from park opening until around 2 I believe. The ride didn`t even open until around 1 or 1:15!! And I had already ridden it when it was X-Flight several years earlier at then Six Flags Worlds of Adventure.
Atomheartmother616
I in my opinion again my opinion only feel it wont be this insane mess everyone is expecting. I am sure there will be a turnout but if previous years are any indication its not like summer when everyone is off and their. Plus factor in those that want to avoid "opening day". Also just become this wonderful site informs us in all the details most majority of passholders wont even be aware of the ert. Or the proper time to show up to ensure a good spot. Shoot many wont even know their open yet. Lol.
CoastersRZ
Well, if the pass holders have signed up for the pass holder email newsletter, they should have received an email newsletter from today. In this newsletter, it contains all the same information about opening day that has been distributed here, including the times of the ERT. It also mentions the time of the Parrots of the Carribbean performances at 2:30 and 4:30 on the International Street Bandstand.
Atomheartmother616
Ohh i know I guess my point is as you all know, and I realize I only recently... Very recently in fact joined this site.. But There are amusement park nuts ( like myself and hopefully others or maybe time for the zanax lol) and then just the casual park go'er, and the family vacation type. Not everyone has to be there day 1 and even less will get outta bed at 5 am to do it! I think it takes a bit of hardcore enthusiasm to do it. The Interpreter
But they don't have to be there at 5, they only need to be there by 9 for ERT and by noon or so to make the day a madhouse. For the park's sake, I hope Saturday and every day the park is open is busy, busy, busy. They really need it this year. Especially since so many will be cutting back spending in so many different ways.
RailRider
I agree Terpy, I hope it is a very busy year for the park and the weather cooperates all year.
iChase
Katie, I wouldn't worry about it. I'm a friend with a gold pass and one without. The one without is just going to have to wait. I'm not going to limit myself just because he can't ride. Yes, I just may be heartless.
Mr. Coastermania
It should not take you to long to ride d-back.Your friend should just be glad to go.You should go and have a great time.Plan it out and enjoy the rest of the day together. I would suggest getting there when you want. As late as possible before 10 would be 9:59:59 am . You can get in the park starting at 8 am, so... I know, this probably didn't help you, but I would suggect getting there at around 9 to 9:30 probably.
ftskatie
i think we're going to give it a shot! we're gonna ride Firehawk first, and go get our tickets to skyflyer, then probably do Delirium then hopefully SOB and Invertigo drop zone, Vortex, beast then Diamondback i hope we have time! i'm soooo excited

iChase
The ERT was an absolute mob. When the ropes were dropped for Gold Passsers things turned into chaos. For awhile, we formed a line, then things deteriorated into a swarm.

For awhile, we formed a line, then things deteriorated into a swarm. we did end up riding it though twice! it was cool at night, the lines were much shorter we waited an hour and a half at about 6ish and 50 minutes when we got in line about 9:50 i was very happy
iChase
Good for you! That line was remarkably shorter at night. I'm getting the feeling I'll never have to wait more than an hour for DB. [Knocks on wood]
