hotel or campground

Obviously hotels would be superior in quality...but I enjoy the cabins at the campground. I don't know how old they actually are, but it seems like you're stepping back in time to the park's 1970's years when you stay in them...plus if you can't sleep you can always read all of the carved graffitti in the bunks!

Has anyone stayed in the cabins? If so could you give me some details on the cabins? Specifically, how many rooms are in the cabins, how many beds and what size they are, when is check-in and check-out times, What is provided (linens, soaps, etc), Are showers provided in the cabins themselves or are they in shower houses, I am also assuming cable tv is included in the cabins from a previous post, any other details?

If anyone has any pdf files or web sites with more info I would appreciate it. I tried to call but they are closed on Sunday and I tried email to pkicamp@parmamountparks.com but it bounced back. I was just trying to plan some trips. The price looks very attractive $60/night for 4 people. I was just curious how many it would sleep as we might have 5 or 6.

Thanks in advance.

My family used our rv quite a few times this past year. Its very comvenient because you can run back and fourth from the park to the campground in about 5 minutes. I like the convenience of being close to the park for a couple days. From our site, you could see drop zone and SOB in the morning testing. smile.gif good times.

Probably the one KI used to own across the street.

The hotel across the street from Paramount's Kings Island is the Kings Island Resort & Conference Center. It has 288 rooms and I've stayed there with my wife and even attended a Sci Fi conference there last month.

The hotel was never actually owned by Kings Island itself.....but by Taft Broadcasting, which owned Kings Island. Hence, PKI and Kings Island Resort were once owned by the same company, but one never owned the other.

Nowadays, Kings Island Resort is owned by a group of business people and managed by one of them. It's a nice place that has 2 swimming pools, an exercise room, a restaurant, a bar, and a game room. The restaurant is nice........but quite frankly if I was the executive chef, the food would be better. My culinary skills are much better than theirs.

And it's the only hotel/motel that offers a free shuttle to and from PKI.

Additionally, when The Brady Bunch filmed their Kings Island episode, both the Brady's and the actual cast in real life lodged there. So, overall the Kings Island Resort is my favorite place to stay when I visit PKI.

There are 6 cabins at the campground. 3 older, 3 newer. The 3 older ones are right next to the main building which has the store, laundromat, bathroom/showers & a small arcade. This is also where the tram picks you up to take you to PKI. The cabins themselves ARE sparse. The older ones look like log cabins. They are only one room. (Guessing, I would say about 12' by 14'...but judging size is not my strongsuit.) They have 2 windows (which are openable.) They have air conditioning & heating...and of course electricity. There is one full size bed, and 2 bunk beds...with mattresses that are plastic covered. There is nothing else in the cabin. No chairs, running water...nothing. You have to bring your own linens. Outside, there is a small front porch, picnic table, grill. You also have your own private driveway. Like I said, they are rustic...but definately clean. I think it is more of an "adventure" to stay in them. My younger Nephews were NOT so thrilled with them. They missed having television, a swimming pool...but they survived. I can NOT say that I would enjoy the cabins for MORe than a 2 day stay though...having to use the public showers is not that much fun. (But you do have privacy when your using them.) Any other questions just ask...

Campground is rather nice, employees are friendly, quiet atmosphere, nobody bothers you, only setback is that the bathrooms do need some cleaning up and need more of them. Otherwise the camping experience is the best, if you want to beat the crowd out of the park, leave a little early, catch the shuttle and you can get an excellent view of the fireworks from the ball field. It's really neat to listen to all the rides in the morning while they're testing them. Kind of gets you geared up and ready to go. If you decide to take a break and want to relax for a while you just catch the shuttle back and forth, you don't have to worry about finding a parking spot and is also convenient if you don't want to buy all your meals in the park, just go back to the camp. Would be nice if they had a pool though. For those that didn't know, shuttle doesn't run during FearFest. It's a long walk back at 1 in the morning!
