kev21
I am not at all a mean person but some people on this site need to have a little consideration. Please dont abbreviate things if you can help it. I know sometimes people do it with out thinking but please try. Sometimes it is really hard for me to tell what something is like BAFFD or recaR whatever that is. What is recaR anyways??!! Thank you for your time.... FOF
Yes abbreviations are a part of life, I dont go writing Centimeters or Kilometers down, i write CM, and KM, or 10^-3, and 10^3.
Beastfreak
Face it, American's are lazy. Just about no one in the country speaks proper English anymore. They don't fully enunciate words, abbreviate whenever they can. One really big abbreviation that anyone going to this site partakes in...... PKI What does that stand for?...Hmmmm.... Paramount's Kings Island. Abbreviations are everywhere.

Shaggy
I think poor English skills can be attributed to nearly anyone that speaks the language. However, you are right, it is apparent that Americans show a lack of concern for proper grammer. Shaggy Edited January 1, 1970 by Shaggy

Kevin I am not trying to be mean, but let's look at the situation: How are abbreviations NOT a part of life? Each of the 50 states have a 2 letter abbreviation. When writing a letter, abbreviations are used for Dr., Trl., St., Ave., ect. (Another!) A middle initial is a abberviation. Cars use them with LTD, GT, GTP. Airports and weather forcasts are another way abbreviations are used: ATL, NY, LA, LAX. One of our countries greatest leaders: JFK. Even in your quote, the word "yah" is used. If you would like to complain about something, complain about spelling and punctuation. Although the english language has been slaughtered for a long time now, consider this: Ebonics is a class taught in LA.
Mrs. G.
I think you mean "grammAr." Yes, abbreviations are taking over, some is necessary, some is laziness, all I know is I need a decoder to follow anything my kids type and I'm not THAT old. Way back in the 70's we actually were able to write out a whole four-letter word instead of, for example, "L8." In this case though it would be cumbersome to retype Paramount's Kings Island and the ride names over and over. I figured most of them out, I don't think anyone does it to be inconsiderate. And I LOVE the part about paper towels in the shoes - we used Kleenex in my daughter's to get her on!!!
bingog34
WOW, is this a Kings Island site or a language debate site?
FOF
Wait PKI stands for Paramounts Kings Island, i thought it was Public Key Infrastructure, im in the wrong place. Just kidding. However, on the other Kings Island site, that really did happen with soemone.
fyrfyter
I think everyone needs to get over it. Abbreviations are a part of life, and if you don't use them, you are the one who is going to be left out.
