HTCO
Oh, my don't get me started on the themeing for AE. The best theming there is a fake skeleton that stands right next to the beginning of the first lift hill...
coaster_junky
when i rode on it on the 10th they didn't even have the drummers drumming, kinda sad really.
Oldiesmann
I rode AE this past Sunday and the guys at the end were working for once. Doesn't make the ride any less lame (especially when riding it right after SOB), but it was nice to see them working.
violakat03
Ride it at night. I was really surprised at how different the experience is at night.
AgentSoB
Yeah, I can agree with that, a night ride on AE is pretty good. I love the ride period. My girlfriend and I giggle through the entire thing. I don't think I've had a trip with out taking it for a stroll. Brings me back to the memories about the clock. We'd ride AE then go for some food in the Festhaus. We usually enjoyed the scenery by VF while the food settled. I remember several times myself or my sisters doing the chicken dance with my grandparents as the clock rang in the background. Memories like this should be able to readily be made in the park. If little things keep on dissapearing families may begin to leave.
kingsisland101
Where and what is the Festhaus? I've never heard of it and I've never seen it or been there?
AgentSoB
It is a large building located in Oktoberfest across from Viking Fury. It it home to a Larosas and Panda Express. You can also get several other kinds of food such as burgers, fries, chicken tenders, and mac and cheese. There is also a very large eating area inside to enjoy your food. Along with the food, there is a set of restrooms, some arcade games, and a bar serving cold ones. This is also home to the live entertainment shows "The County Line" and "Down Home Country". Oldiesmann
You can also enter Festhaus on the road from International Street to Action Zone - it's the big building there with the giant food sign outside of it.
coaster_junky
Ride it at night. I was really surprised at how different the experience is at night. i have and it was amazing, but the best part was the goose bumps i got when i saw the flood lights shining on Son of Beast's loop. (i miss that loop )
SOB_TOM
KIDiamondback, I don't know where you are getting your information, but take it from someone who knows EXACTLY what the budget on that clock is/was, and someone who actually worked on the clock for 3 years, but your information is off. If money was the issue with the clock, then it would still be running. I have my own hypothesis on why the clock is not running this year, and I think the closest would be right along with Ryan's assessment. Who would want the chicken dance to interrupt the live show? That would be annoying. And BTW, for those who remember, ever done that chicken dance, and stayed right with the music?
Jamesv7
My wife would yells at me when I would do the Chicken Dance. She tells me that I wiggle like a girl.
SOB_TOM
The reason I ask is because when the music was cut for the clock, the creator of the cut actually left out one of the lines of music in the third repetition just to mess with peoples' heads. It was hysterical to sit up there and watch as everyone would all of the sudden be out of sync with the music.
Coney Islander
*Bump* I've asked KI's 5@5 a few times wether the Festhaus clock will ever operate again... The question has been ignored. Oh well...
PREMiERdrum
I submitted a question for Friday's 5@5, asking about the band organ and Festhaus clock. We'll see...
RingMaster
Is it possible that it hasn't been repaired because they think the music from the Glockenspiel may interfere with the life shows inside? You couldn't hear the music from the Glockenspiel inside the Festhaus; that was strictly exterior sound. You couldn't even hear it in the entryway into Festhaus. alluna
Avatar, I would ask about the clock at 5@5 and send in a link to the video of the girls dancing! How can they expect there to be interest in the Oktoberfest theme if they aren't maintaining it?? That's their job, not ours. My belief is that if you theme anything right, the people will enjoy it. I had no interest in Morocco until I walked the streets of Epcot. Morocco is now in my bucket list. Edit: I am going to ask at 5@5, too, so they know there is a general interest in this!
