Ok, This topic can be closed or deleted when I get some sort of answer.

I am completing my Senior Project in my Film Class, and i am doing it on PKI. I already hav tons of footage of rides from midways, and stuff, but I was wondering the parks rules on camcorders? Most parks are ok with it, but I didnt know Pki's rules. On ride Video would def. help my footage alot.

maybe I cabn post it on here when its done.

There was a topic that was closed about this issue, but, if you ask the park, under the circumstances, they may let you under certain rules. I'd give it a shot, tell them what you need and what its for. It couldn't hurt to ask.

If you talk with PR they may let you or provide you with predone footage.

Holding onto a camera is tough on a ride. I did it on roadrunner express down at SFKK and that ride is breaked heavly but its still hard to hold on.

You will have to ask PR or marketing if you can make your own footage. If it's for a school project it will help a lot to have your Prof. write a letter on school letterhead and include contact information as proof for a school project.

Cam corders are okay in the park as long as you don't take them on a ride... like sobrider said, however, the park might have fotage you can use already, just ask. If they don't, and you want to make your own, you will have to go through marketing most likely... Jeff will probably walk around with you, or someone else from that department. They had some people there the other day from Miami University (Oxford) filming for school news thing.

I don't really want to get into my issues in the public forums, which is why i want Yogi to send me a private message, but let's just say I wouldn't count on getting much help from PR/Marketing...It's kind of a "been there, done that" issue....

Picture taking while riding is prohibited. Look on the Fun and Safety guideline signs.

Zzzzz. I say go for it. You pay for the park. It survives on your hard earned money... I say go for it. If you have one of them small camera's that fit in the palm of your hand (them 1000 ones), even better! Good luck...

I believe the original question was taking video of the rides from the midways, which I believe is ok, although i know some parks which it isn't allowed. However I do know there is absolutly no taking of pictures/videos of anytype while on the ride.

I thoroughly agree with SolidSnakes theories on this one. He's right, couldn't have said it more perfectly in my opinion. But, if they tell you to put it away, then don't them give crap, just put it away and come back later if you are determined.

Shedevilonsob- I HIGHLY doubt that you would actually take that kind of action as a first resort, think about what you are saying before you actually say it. I have no doubt that you would A: get fired on the spot

or B: get a sevre talking to. if any employee did that.

Yes She would! If we see a camera if its small enough they will ask you to put it away before we restart the ride(every coaster has cameras and they can zoom in). If its a large video camera they WILL send a OP up to the lift to retrive it. You can be kicked out of the park for having a camera on the ride. Its up to the ride ops if they want to call security or not.

I have no doubt that you would A: get fired on the spot

Wrong and Wrong

Ride Ops would not be fired noe would a manager even bother with you of your camera was taken away. If you violate policys you forfit your purchase of ticket/season pass. Its unsafe and it should not be done. Plus its a ohio law too.

Depending on the Op you may get a warning. You may have security there to escort you off. Leave the on ride to the discovery channel.

sobrider is totally right....I didn't work in rides...but in almost every situation, if the employee is following procedure, the first warning is all the person needs to get security. Heck, I got security for people smoking in the shows and for using video cameras in Timberwolf...unless the employee has done something 'out of line' they will almost always side with the employee...

As I said in my e-mail Yogi - Do NOT take the camera on rides....I'm guessing Yogi will agree that this topic could probably be closed now.

geez , you guys have slective reading skills don't you? try reading that post of mine a little better. It says, "Shedevilonsob- I HIGHLY doubt that you would actually take that kind of action as a first resort" FIRST RESORT that would never happen on a first incident, and if it did, the employees would do it nicely and politely. Not: "hey you! you've got a camera! you know the rules! (op grabs the camera) security waiting for ya at the end!" Get real guys, and quit being so hostile towards your guests.

Inraider... those are the rules, and the management and ride ops are very strict about the whole camera policy. I have in fact seen someone from my school get escorted out of the park for taking on-ride photos.
