ride model in International Street shop window?

Featured Replies

In the window of the Thrill Seekers gift shop (location 20 on the park map), there is a non-working model of a rollercoaster. My brother, friend, and I spent a good deal of time last night staring at this model trying to figure out what KI roller coaster it was. The conclusion? It's not currently a KI roller coaster. It looks similar to Firehawk, but it's not. It's definitely not Vortex, Invertigo, or Diamondback. As I said, it's not any of the rides at KI.

I'm wondering if it's a sign of times to come.... I should have taken a picture of it, I wish I had... but I didn't... Next week when I go up there I'll take a picture of it. It looks like a really fun roller coaster. I don't know if it's something CF plans to build at KI in the future and has not yet publically stated, or if it's a roller coaster at one of the other CF parks.

Has anyone seen this? If so do you know what it is?

Yes I've seen it. YEs I know what it is. It is specifically modeled after a currently operating coaster. It is made by CoasterDynamix (or something like that). They are kinda like K'Nex where you can build model roller coasters, only they are more realistic looking form CoasterDynamix.

I wonder how many times you have walked past it, it's only been there since last season

LOL I only went two or three times last year... and since I'm usually always broke I don't have money for souveniers so I ignore the shops :P If I go to the souvenier shops I always find stuff I want that I can't afford, which makes me sad :(

And this is only my third visit this year, and the first time walking past that shop.

So now my question is why does a Cedar Fair park have a model of a roller coaster that's at a Busch Gardens park??? hahaha.

Also, who made the model of Diamondback, and where is it now?

Coasterdynamics has excellent models. They are working on a Shuttle looping model at the moment that will only cost $30!

As Jackson (Beast1979) said, the model of Diamondback was produced by CoasterDynamix. Its current location is still the lobby area of Great Wolf Lodge if I am not mistaken.

I know I can't wait!!!! They are also selling Beast Statix at ki this year. With the model being an invert is just there for display nothing else. It would be nice if they sold kits in the stores as well.

I'm a pretty big CD follower and I haven't heard anything about this on their website or forums? Do you have link?

In early May it was back at Kings Island in Picnic Grove, but by Ride Warriors Weekend, it wasn't there, so I have no idea where it is.

Wow, I must've completely skipped over that thread! It does look cool, ecspecially the spring launch!

In case anyone is interested, they do sell the Scorpion models at Kings Island...

^ Yep, they're about $200 at KI. I don't know what their normal cost is so I don't know if it's more expensive or not.

They also had a CoasterDynamix model 'of' Alpengeist on sale at Busch Gardens Europe. I put of in quotes because it wasn't actually an accurate model outside of being an invert and the right color scheme. The layout was the same as the Scorpion model, I believe. I took a pic of it with my cell phone, I'll post it as soon as I email it to myself.

With the model being an invert is just there for display nothing else.

Although it's not currently running, it is fully capable operating, which it has done before. Being an inverted roller coaster does not affect its ability to run.

The price of the model on the CoasterDynamix website is $199.95...

^ Thats only a nickle short of $200.

I have a Scorpion set. And it was really hard to put together. But I'm use to K'nex which is a really bad model base to use.
