Trip Help

I know, I know...4th of July! I am planning my first ever trip to KI this weekend. I was looking for some tips to help me get through as painless as possible.

I am a Platinum Passholder and want to take advantage of the early entry for Diamondback and Beast. I have no idea how it works, but sounds as simple as going to a certain entrance for early entry. My friend is an ACE member and will have an e-ticket. Supposedly, ACE members can also take advantage of the Diamondback ERT. Is that an issue? How crowded do these ERT sessions get?

My intentions are to get some early Diamondback rides and then move over to Beast. From there, I want to strategicly plan the rest of the park to get as many rides as possible before overcrowding begins. What should my first coaster be once the park opens? I will make my way over quickly.

I'm guessing Firehawk needs to be one of my priorities. If someone could help by giving me a good "coaster itinerary" I would appreciate it.

My plans (as of now) would be:

Diamondback

Beast

Vortex

Firehawk

Flight of Fear

Racer

Adventure Express

Flight Deck

Invertigo

Backlot Stunt Coaster

Rugrat's Runaway Reptar

Little Bill's Giggle Coaster

Fairly Odd Coaster

Insert Son of Beast in there if open ;)

Thanks for your help :)

Ki may not be as busy as you think on the 4th, it might be though since its a saturday. it will be open 10am-12 am.

The ERT is one hour bfore the park opens on Saturdays and a half hour every other day. I have yet to use the ERT sessions with my platinum pass so i couldnt tell ya how bust it will be, im sure someone can. But from what i heard The Beast is usually walk on during the ERT.

Everyone will run to Diamondback when the park opens, so about ten minutes til 10 i would start to make your way over to Firehawk and Flight of Fear, both of those lines move a little slower then others.

Then maybe Racer, Adventure Express, then go into the Action Zone.

If Invertigo has a long line, pass it up, Flight Deck shouldnt have to long of a wait.

In general Vortex and Diamondback are people eaters, so the line will move quick!

Hope that helps have a great time!

Don't forget Drop Tower. Try and fit that in there somewhere. Its one of the best flats I have ever been on. Try and get a night ride on Diamondback too. The line moves VERY quick, so if the queue is full.. your looking at a 45 minute wait tops. Have fun! And good luck with all the crowds.

Thanks for the replies. I hate lines!!! I will hope for a night ride on Diamondback, but don't know if it will be worth close to an hour. I'm curious what the morning ERT will be like. If I can get a few rides in, I'll be happy.

I'm curious if anyone can help fill in a little more info on the ERT.

I want to ensure I get all the credits I can (I plan on getting all of them) so I'll want to get through things as quickly as possible. Does my order sound good to stay ahead of the crowds?

I plan to leave the park mid-afternoon and return at night.

The small plaza infront of the fountains opens at 9am. There will be a goldpass check gate to the right of the fountains only admitting those with pass's back to the DB/Beast ERT. Just flash your pass and you are in. You can easily get DB and Beast in that first hour (9am-10am) Then I highly suggest getting over to Firehawk as fast as you can at 10am when the remaining attractions open. Hit Flight of Fear while your over there.

Nickelodeon Universe has low crowds when it's dark out and its getting later in the day.

It might be a little hard to do EVERYTHING in one day, considering it will be really frackin' crowded. If it is possible try to shoot for two days. That way you can do everything for sure and go back and ride all the ones you really want to hit again.

I'm really hoping to do it in one day, since that is all my schedule will really allow. I've done Cedar Point(!) all in one day, just hope that the ERT on Diamondback and Beast with early park admission to be over to Firehawk and Flight of Fear before the crowds will be enough to get me through the day.

Doing a familiar park in a day is a lot easier than doing a park you have never been to in a day. I'd highly suggest latching up with someone here, perhaps even during ERT. It will make your day a lot easier. Since you will have your ACEr friend with you, chances are good he will see someone he knows. And groups of four are usually easier than groups of three, but don't discount going as a group of three and trading off who rides with whom.

This last piece of advice is going to be controversial, but Terpy writes what he thinks and often says what he thinks. If the person/group you latch onto turns into someone you don't want to do that with, you now have the ready made excuse...we are leaving for a while, we will be back and may or may not see you! Byun's!

This may help, too:

Have a great time, Ernie! I'll also be there on the 4th, making my first trip to KI in 5 years. There's some talk of showers that day, which may dissuade some from heading to the park. Still, I'm bracing for a huge crowd and will have a great time nonetheless.

We don't have the benefit of ERT, but I'm hoping some careful pre-planning with the map will get us on everything. We'll be there the entire 14 hours the park is open Saturday, so it should be a blast.

Get there as close to 9 as possible and make the most of ERT. Last Saturday, I got 6 DB rides in 45 minutes during this time. I'd take advantage of this, and then at about 10-till 10:00, be sure to get a Beast ride in.

After that, you'll be right by BLSC when the park opens, so you may as well hit that-then head to Firehawk. It is a slow moving line, but if you get to FH by 10:30, you should still be OK. You can hit Vortex later-the line for that is never too bad. After Firehawk, do FoF, then Racer. Also, in this 10 o'clock hour, you may want to check the prices for Slingshot and Xtreme Skyflyer...they'll be as low as they're going to get early in the AM, but they still might not be that low since it's a Saturday.

Definitely do Drop Tower while you're over by Flight Deck...I'd skip Invertigo, but that's just because it rattles me pretty bad. Have a great time!

Yeah, do Firehawk first at 10, then FOF, Vortex, Invertigo and the rest.

Don't forget The Crypt. If you never rode it as Tomb Raider it will be a cool ride.Just watch your keys. It opened my carabiner clip and took mine right off my belt loop. Took two hours to get them back. Delirium can do this, too.

Thanks for all the help.

The rain wasn't the best but we had a good day at the park. I ended up getting at least one ride on everything (including Giggles) and several on Diamondback. Late night single rider line wait was <5 minutes! ERT started late (about 20 minutes!) but we still got 2 rides.

Sucked that Beast was running ONE train late at night, no way to get a reasonable ride in on that.
