TTD-120-420 Posted August 12, 2009 Posted August 12, 2009 Does anybody really think this will be anything other than a water ride/log flume? Quote
RailRider Posted August 12, 2009 Posted August 12, 2009 I highly doubt a coaster painted Red is going to be called White Lightning. Then again I have seen stranger things. Quote
AintNutinElse2Do Posted August 12, 2009 Posted August 12, 2009 A lot of us keep looking for the tie with Morganton WV, a lot of little things, a few steel plants, moonshine, but a lot of overlooking about it's big claim to fame. Never repeated anywhere the Morganton Personal Rapid Transit System is rather unique http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Morgantown_Pe...l_Rapid_Transit I think it holds the clues. Especially in the way the system operates. Quote
The Interpreter Posted August 12, 2009 Posted August 12, 2009 Well, the only other one around is in California, near California's Great America, and named BART... Quote
AintNutinElse2Do Posted August 12, 2009 Posted August 12, 2009 Well, the only other one around is in California, near California's Great America, and named BART... I was going off of this statement on WiKi "An experiment in new public transportation methods at the time, it has now operated with good reliability for over thirty years, though it has not been replicated elsewhere to date" But hey BART seems very similar so I dunno, either way I think it has something to do with it. The Interpreter Posted August 12, 2009 Posted August 12, 2009 Both were funded at the same time and were demonstration projects. They share technologies. Yet another example of why Wikipedia is not the most reliable of sources... Quote
PREMiERdrum Posted August 12, 2009 Posted August 12, 2009 For what it's worth, I found a picture of the Crystal Rock Castle at CP on an old postcard... In the 20s, the location was turned into a sandwich shop since alcohol couldn't be served under prohibition. The building was turned into a maitenance shop in the early 50s and demolished in 1960. Colonel_SoB_fan Posted August 13, 2009 Posted August 13, 2009 Look at this tweet convo between Anonymous and CP Anonymous "@cedarpoint can't wait to see what's new for next year! ill be at Cedar Point in less than 2 months for halloweekends=D" CP "@anonymous You'll know the details by then!" Quote
Diamondback FOF Posted August 13, 2009 Posted August 13, 2009 Huh. I wonder when they will set an official date. Maybe afetr Kd's and CarW's coasters are announced? Quote
Diamondback96 Posted August 13, 2009 Posted August 13, 2009 And what about this? Laboring over these 2010 plans is exhausting! Does this mean this ride's going to be huge or unique? Quote
corn4ahead Posted August 13, 2009 Posted August 13, 2009 And what about this? Laboring over these 2010 plans is exhausting! Does this mean this ride's going to be huge or unique? Or possibly (hopefully) both!!! Quote
The Interpreter Posted August 13, 2009 Posted August 13, 2009 Top Thrill Dragster... Terpy, who has said 2 much...or something... Quote
DaveStroem Posted August 14, 2009 Posted August 14, 2009 Laboring over these 2010 plans is exhausting! I think it might mean that they will be making their announcement Labor Day weekend. Quote
Beast1979 Posted August 14, 2009 Posted August 14, 2009 KD: 1 CW: 2 CP: 3 This one's a real brain teaser. Quote
CedarPointer Posted August 14, 2009 Posted August 14, 2009 KD's is tallest, CW's is second tallest, and CP's is third tallest. Quote
Go Browns Posted August 14, 2009 Posted August 14, 2009 announcement order: 1st kd 2nd cw 3rd cp Quote
TTD-120-420 Posted August 15, 2009 Posted August 15, 2009 Anybody wanna place bets that the new ride will have OTSRs? Quote
Diamondback FOF Posted August 15, 2009 Posted August 15, 2009 Anybody wanna place bets that the new ride will have OTSRs? For which one? Quote
Beast1979 Posted August 15, 2009 Posted August 15, 2009 This one was pretty straight forward: Definitely NOT taking the Beemer out for a spin today. Or next year for that matter. Quote
Go Browns Posted August 15, 2009 Posted August 15, 2009 "Definitely NOT taking the Beemer out for a spin today. Or next year for that matter." Twitter quote from today. Although I was secretly hoping for a B&M flyer it looks like the new ride won't be a beemer of any kind. I'm pretty much settled on the idea thats its a water ride with some stupid gimick like Perlious plunge or Journey to Atlantis at Seaworld SA. Quote
corn4ahead Posted August 15, 2009 Posted August 15, 2009 This means GCI then. CP would not hype up a freaking water ride would they? Quote
Go Browns Posted August 15, 2009 Posted August 15, 2009 Why not? Its their job to hype up whatever they have. They aren't going to say "just a crappy new water ride. you should probably just go to KD this year." Quote
Beast1979 Posted August 15, 2009 Posted August 15, 2009 Why not? Holiday World did. If it's record breaking or a major ride, then I don't see why they wouldn't. And where does the GCI come from? Have we ruled out all other manufacturers? Jackson, hopping it's a GCI too, but trying to be realistic. Quote
corn4ahead Posted August 15, 2009 Posted August 15, 2009 well, i was just thinking out loud sorry, but i dont ever remember CP hyping up rides like Skyhawk and MaxAir. Quote
Go Browns Posted August 15, 2009 Posted August 15, 2009 no apology necessary we are just chattin. Now I'm gonna go do my GCI Dance and stick a needle in a voodoo water ride doll. Quote
Beast1979 Posted August 15, 2009 Posted August 15, 2009 How does the GCI dance go? I want to join. Quote
CedarPointer Posted August 15, 2009 Posted August 15, 2009 well, i was just thinking out loud sorry, but i dont ever remember CP hyping up rides like Skyhawk and MaxAir. They didn't have a Twitter account back then. Quote
minime15834 Posted August 15, 2009 Posted August 15, 2009 ok so you're all pretty much instantly crossing B&M off your list...why? they said NOT a beemer. this instantly makes me think it will be one. if they built everything they didn't say it wouldn't be, then they'd get like one of everything. this is the first one they said they wouldn't get. so they should get it. Â Â did that make sense? Quote
