Intresting CP Tweet

via Facebook: "Cedar Point is not building an S&S, a B&M, a Grav. Group, a Mack, or a Gerstlauer."

So, what does that leave (of more 'major' manufaturers)? Intamin, Premier, Vekoma, Arrow, what else?

Arrow is defunct, they were bought by S&S.

I bet they are just messing with us. Why would they reveal what their new ride is before the official announcement? Ride Sally Ride

It really needs to be a new coaster. I said before they haven't had one since 2007. If next year they don't have one, then that's three years. And for a big, really popular park like that, it'll bring down the visitors. They need something new and interesting. I know Cedar Point has tons of guests but having no new rides is bad. (or no new GOOD rides).

Not to mention that Six Flags Magic Mountain is getting a new roller coaster for 2010. That would tie them with Cedar Point for the most roller coasters, taking away their "Most roller coasters in the World" record.

Before you say the public doesn't care, uh, Cedar Fair does. We all know how much they love records, especially a record like that for their flagship park, I don't see them not doing anything about it.

Oh yeah. I knida forgot about that. But, now that you say it, I remember reading that a while back...

Brewing 2010 sounds like something either in Frontier Town or a water ride. I'm surprised nobody has mentioned this, maybe a water coaster?

And if CP doesn't add something next year, MM might decide to add another coaster in 2011 to go ahead of CP or (more likely) stay tied (CP would more than likely add something in 2011 if not 2010). Also, MM is supposed to be adding a kids area themed to the Wiggles in 2011 (according to Wikipedia ), so they would probably add a kids coaster. So, if CP adds one coaster in the next two years, and MM adds two, they will be ties. I don't see that sitting well with Mr. Kinzel.

Two down, one to go. So, I guess CP is the only park left to announce a ride for next year.- from Twitter (twitter.com/cedarpoint)

Well CP would automatically have to add a new coaster is MM got ahead of them! If they love records, then they would want to keep that record. And they HAVE to have a new coaster at least by 2011. That would be crazy. 4 years of nothing except for what might be a log flume?

They don't have to add one. MM would only be tied with them next year if CP doesn't add something. But, we all know that can't happen .

If they are tied, then technically, they can not say "Most roller coasters in the world"

Just a little rewording, courtesy of some clever marketing folks would remedy that:

"Cedar Point: No one has more coasters than us!"

And they could still say, "Amer5ica's Roller Coast" because I'm pretty sure that SFMM is not right next to the Pacific Ocean.

CF is obsessed with records- I have a shirt that calls Mamba the tallest and fastest coaster in the midwest, but they consider CP and KI to be in the midwest as well. (which I do not, but that's another story)

Two parks have announced coasters, one location left to announce. So, could this twitter post have confirmed it is a coaster, not a ride?

Look at Carowinds: The Tallest, Fastest, Longest Coaster in the Southeast!

Really....you were that desperate to give it a record.....

It could be read that way. But it doesn't confirm anything really. 2 down, one to go could mean major holidays in the summer for all we know. Memorial Day and Independence Day are past, Labor Day is coming. Just saying.

^And I kind of agree... but I think it's more of a chance for good marketing than it is to give it a record.

^^^I would think so, beings CanW announced some new flats with their Snoopy area, so that would make for three parks having announced rides thus far. But, the Tweet only says two, so...

^See directly above your post...

The Most Roller Coasters in the World*

*not including California

Why is a flume still in consideration?

At Screamscape it reports that at the Maverick ride night it was said riders wouldn't get wet.

Also there must be some significance to the Y in Whyte Lightning. It must have something to do with the ride because y in white is very unusual.

^ If you're talking about the Crystal Rock Bottling Company, we've known that for a little while now.

Them Canfield's & McGee's will still be feudin' down river next year...

Okay. Can you explain that?

The Canfield's & McGee's are two feuding families in the themeing for Paddle Wheel Excursions. It's a play on the legendary family rivalry between the Hatfields and McCoy.
