Intresting CP Tweet

Recommended Posts

This is really making me excited. So it's not going to get you wet, it's not a GCI, and it's name is probably Whyte Lightning. I doubt any of the things they mentioned on Twitter, Facebook, or their Blog are it, and at this point it looks like they're going down the list narrowing the options.

I was bored earlier and on www.whytelightning.com and I decided to add extra words to the link and see if a page came up. I would try things such as www.whytelightning.com/photos and it would say "Page not found." Than I tried www.whytelightning.com/stats and it asked for a password. So that means there is actually a working webpage of the statistics for Whyte Lightning but you need a password to access it since it hasn't been announced yet. Just thought it was kinda cool so I posted it.

A more detailed post than the other.

Did the White Lightning website change? Because I've seen another site with a person drilling a hole in a wall- something like that.

That was whitelightning.carowinds.com

http://whitelightning.carowinds.com

Although in all fairness, the whytelightning.com site did change as well just a little bit in the last few days.

I got the media kit for CP's announcement today, and it's fairly interesting. (In the interest of my relationship with the park I am keeping the rest of the info to myself.)

But for those of you who worry that they're faking us out, they're not. There is a bona-fide media event for this announcement.

^Screamscape has pretty much finalized a Dale Earnhart (sp?) theme for Carowinds coaster. The only piece that doesn't fit is that website.

As far as Cedar Point goes with the twitter hints and this blog entry they have pretty much cut it down to to a couple manufacturers they haven't eliminated

- Intamin

- Premier

- Vekoma

- Smaller Manufacturers

Ok, here's the media kit I recieved from Cedar Point today. I think it's safe to share since it doesn't reveal anything about the ride, nor does it give the specific date of announcement. With that said, it is a very, very well done piece.

The box is dressed as a wooden shipping crate with "Cedar Point" in the old (50s/60s?) font on one side, and "There is somethin' brewin' on tha shores of Lake Erie!" on another. Inside the box is a glass one-gallon jug, identical to the one picutred on the On Point blog today.

Inside the jug was a rolled up piece of paper, with a vintage looking comic strip on one side.

cp1.jpg

The text is as follows:

Top: "Whyte Lightning by C.P. McCoy"

Next Box: "People have been talkin' about a lot of commotion on the island lately."

next: "Said there's fires burning all night long." / "Even heard there are strangers in town snoopin' around."

next: "Plan to check it out. Tell you more very, very soon.

Bottom: Cedar <CP 1870> Point

edit: ((consider my thunder stolen by the video))

I will be very saddened if all this hype goes to a water ride. But, Cedar Point said that you will not get wet on this ride. And, that Snake River Falls is not going anywhere for 2010. Why would they build a new water ride virtually right next to another existing one? It looks like perhaps the theory of a water ride is not doing to well right now.

Also, it looks as though The Point is going all out for the teasing of the ride. It makes me wonder, when will they set an official date? So far the only hint we have to that is the "Laboring over these 2010 plans is exhausting!", which suggests labor day. But that's not official, and still nearly 2 weeks away. Why would they go on this teasing blitz if the announcement is still that far from now?

It really makes me wonder. I have to give props to the point though, they've done a very good job of keeping me interested and excited. They must have some real geniuses in marketig.

Tony more-or-less confirmed a Labor Day announcement over on PointBuzz. I was really surprised by the quality of the kit I got today. This is much more in line with the Diamondback materials from KI than the Maverick kits from CP. IF it's a water ride, I would expect something marketable about it. The wouldn't go to all this trouble for a standard flume. Or would they?

Check out this photo from 2007 I took! Perhaps CP purposely put the name there.

There's also a jug of "White Lightning" on the Pole Cat Pickers band wagon near the tunnel under MF on the Frontier Trail:

How in the heck do you even notice that kind of stuff?
