Whales_Rock
Okay. I have been trying to plan a second KI trip for about a month now. When I check the forecast for the day, it says SUNNY. Then I check it like two days later and it's THUNDERSTORMING. This happened again today, and it's the last oppurtunity I have since I start school next week. It's raining on Monday, the day I planned to go, with a 40% chance. How heavy does the rain have to be to shut down rides? Which ones would be still running? rotag
most rides dont get shut down till thunder/lightning appers{sp?}.
CincyMan98
YOU'VE ONLY BEEN TO Kings Island ONCE? And BTW, I went today and it was perfectly sunny and warm. I don't know why you thought there were storms.....

I don't know why you thought there were storms..... No, I'm talking about next week. It's raining all of next week except Thursday and Friday but I'd figured it be packed on those days. And yes... unfortunatley only been once THIS SEASON because my parents hate roller coasters and dont like the price even with discount tickets. But i'm getting a Seasons Pass for my birthday hopefully

Your parents SHOULD go for that - if you buy season passes for $300 or $200 for your whole family, and you go at least 4 times, it's well worth it. rotag
not to mention, the more you go, the cheaper that price seems per visit.

They're too old and they hate Kings Island. And no one ever wants to go with me so I have to go hunt down one of my friends to go with me, so IdK if I'll go more then 3 times next season, I hope so. So we'd only get two season passes. But anyways back to the topic- So they close down with thunder and lightning- How about just steady rain? Would I be able to ride, like, The Beast and The Racer? Not that not liking roller coasters is a crime...........

Not that not liking roller coasters is a crime........... You don't know my parents. They're seriously, too old and they hate roller coasters. My dad gets nauseous and dizzy swinging on a swing. But I love KI and really want to go back! My mom called someone to take me 3 days ago but she hasn't responded, and my Mom refuses to call her back. So no more KI this season :(

violakat03
As long as there is no lightning within a certain radius, all the coasters will operate no matter how hard the rain is. Each coaster has it's own "rain mode" which usually means fewer trains. The wood coasters will only run 1 train, Diamondback will run 2. I have ridden Diamondback and Beast in ridiculously hard rain and gotten soaked worse than a water ride. The best part about hard rain is there are no lines! 16 times on Diamondback in 2 hours! Whales_Rock
Well nevermind anyways... I just talked to my mom and she says I'm not allowed to go if its raining. Its only a 40% chance!!!

I love Kings Island just as much as anyone on here.
Whales_Rock
^ I'm a fanatic too. But an extreme fanatic, i'm not kidding I'm obsessed. I didn't get to ride DB this season
CincyMan98
I know. 3 years ago I loved building coasters and I knew everything there was to know- but I never rode anything, because I was too scared

pcc
Personally, I like a quick downpour when I'm at the park. It helps clear out people, which means more ride time for me and my family And no, you are never too old to ride. I turn 31 soon, and show no signs of stopping. My very first ride on DB in May, there was a guy there in his 70's riding it. My husband and I joke that when we get old, we'll be placing our false teeth and hearing aides in the bins before we board our ride lol
Whales_Rock
^ Yeah, I know thats what I figures, and its only raining half the time. But I'm not going to argue anymore with my mom about it. If I mention Kings Island one more time that season pass and any other opportunity to go is out the window.... Ohhhhhhh.

But, after I got off, even though there was no lightning, they shut it down! Why???
Oldiesmann
They shut down rides when they feel that the weather conditions could make the ride unsafe to operate.
