1st KI visit. what are the must rides, and which to ride as soon as the park opens.

Featured Replies

Diamondback, The Beast, Invertigo, Drop Tower, Flight of Fear, Backlot Stunt Coaster

DO NOT waste your time on Adventure Express, Eiffel Tower (snore), or any of the kiddie rides.

TopGun1993 would disagree with you. I, too, happen to think Adventure Express is one of the best of its kind, and is well worth riding. Its line also moves very quickly, should the park be busy. If you are not going this morning, the search button will bring you much, much advice...

And welcome aboard.

I agree with The Beast, should be one of the first rides you ride. If you have ridden the clone rides before stay away from FOF if the line is outside the building, because it will be shorter later in the evening. Adventure Express is a fun ride that you usually can walk onto. Along with the Eiffel Tower, if you have the time take a trip up it is cool to see all the way around the park, like someone said before its sort of similar to the fountains, you forget how cool it is up there.

AE is really only fun at night, IMO. I'm totally with DiamondbackLover on the ride list suggestions, except for Invertigo. Invertigo is an ear beater and will give you a horrendous headache.. so will Vortex.

I am surprised no one has mentioned Racer.. it's a classic, fun woodie with some sweet airtime.

My list for you would be Diamondback, Drop Tower, Racer, Flight of Fear, Backlot Stunt Coaster. Slingshot is pretty awesome if you ask me, kick your feet at the top and you can get the cage to spin like crazy. And you must get a blue ice cream cone.. that stuff is the shiz and it's practically a KI tradition.

When are you going? We'll be more than happy to show you around the park.. us KICers can be a lot of fun! :)

You're just going to get the same answers - but I'll tell you anyways.

1. Diamondback

2. Beast

3. Flight of Fear

4. Invertigo

5. Flight Deck

6. Anything else (haven't ridden any flat rides at KI)

What do you mean both? And if I wasn't afraid of heights, I would ride Drop Tower after the 2 biggest coasters, Diamondback and Beast. Your main concern are the coasters, the flat rides usually don't have long lines except Drop Tower and Delirium.

I mean compared to most other theme parks (except Six Flags Over Georgia), Kings Island has very, very few flats. Both is an exaggeration. But not much of one. Shake Rattle and Roll is a very good one. So is Monster. And I am in no way saying those two are the only good ones. They aren't. But so many have left and not been replaced. And of course, Nick U is full of flats...though the park calls Avatar a coaster!

By most definitions, for example, Delirium is a flat...

Well other parks don't have a gigantic kids section full of 18 rides. That's probably the reason for few flats everywhere in the park. But can we get back on topic?

This IS on topic, it is what to ride at Kings Island...and noting that there are few flats compared to most parks is on topic. Had there been other don't miss flats, they would be listed here. Delirium, Monster and Shake Rattle and Roll fit that for me, as does Avatar unless you consider that a coaster...

And other parks do have kids areas like that...one in fact had FOUR in the same park, but started to take some of the rides out and move them to other parks this year. Sigh.

Honestly, if you ride Monster and Shake Rattle and Roll you won't get much of a different experience. It's fun, but not thrilling or a different feeling. I like the Scrambler also, and Viking Fury is good for the end of the day and you need to relax.

;)

1. You must ride The Beast. Its bumpy. But well worth the bruises- Best woodie in the world

2. Flight of Fear- Dont go there in the afternoon, the lines will be horrendous, though well worth the wait

3. Diamondback

4. The Racer

5. The Vortex- Real, Real bumpy, but fun

He's probly talking about Drop Zone and Delerium

You're not listing them in order, are you? Because if Diamondback was third, the line would be a two hour wait. WRONG.

Not really, but you should get to FOF first.... the lines are worse then Diamondback I think, or at least when my friends went. Don't worry about Firehawk. The lines will be zero minutes o_o

Well every Saturday I've been to KI FoF's line was not even visible, even when you go inside the building. This was after I rode The Beast and Diamondback, which was at 12:00 noon. And by then Diamondback had a hour and a half wait.

There's really no reason to tell a first timer "AVOID THIS AT ALL COSTS. Avoid the kiddie stuff!" The truth is, Kings Island can easily be done in one day, and if you've never been, you really ought to try everything. Yes, including Flight of Fear, Adventure Express, Crypt, etc... They may be boring old rides to you, but for a first-timer? Really...

Amen. For years I was told to avoid Six Flags Great Adventure at all costs. I stupidly complied. I really, really wish I had not. When I eventually went, thinking it can't possibly be that bad, I found a truly wonderful park. One person's least liked ride or park may well be another person's favorite. Try it for yourself, then decide.

Even Ninja at Six Flags Over Georgia...

I would say you definately have to get on Diamondback, The Beast, The Racer, drop zone, Vortex, and maybe AE. Also, If you are looking to get just a little wet, you should ride WWC. Its a pretty fun ride, where you still get a nice water ride experience. Try not tobe fooled by some of the lines too, because they can be like very tricky illusions. Sometimes, they actually move pretty quick.

have fun!

I always get soaked on WWC. But maybe I just have bad luck on that ride. Well, to get back on topic I would ride, DB,FH (if its open doubt it is), Drop Tower, Flight Deck,Beast, AE,Vortex Racer and anything else that YOU think looks good! Hope you have fun.

Really wish I could add SOB to that list :(

yea on WWC, if its a little chilly I would avoid this ride, because i can never get off that ride with out getting soaked...... but hey if its a warm to hot day WWC is a blast

I forgot to mention Red Racer! You HAVE to ride it! Loaded with airtime. It might even be my favorite wooden roller coaster at the park.

Sorry, Voyage is miles better than The Beast.

Is there a difference between the Red Racer and the Blue Racer? And Voyage sucks. (I never have ridden it before)

Well obviously, if you haven't ridden it before, you can't say it sucks... What? And yes, there is a difference. They race each other and have different tracks.

HEY. WELL GUESS WHAT. The Beast IS MY LOVER AND 'NO ONE WILL EVER SURPASS HIM EHAHAHAH!

Well I know they race. Maybe that's why it's called The Racer. And this is off topic but one difference between the Voyage and Beast.

Beast - 1979

Voyage -2006.

BIG DIFFERENCE. Beast rules no matter what.
