There is some space to put some rides and a good sized coaster behind Son of Beast, you probably already know this but when i was reading my coaster book(which could be old and something could have been built there since and i dont know because i havent been to PKI) and a picture of Son of Beast came up and they showed the space behind the coaster and there is quite a bit. What do you think will go there and if you wanna see the picture, i think i can scan alittle bit of it, it is a big picture, just PM me.

I'm not sure if you are familiar with the Little Miami River, but the park's property goes all the way back to it. You can hear the guests in the park if you are walking on the bike trail that's by the Powder Factory in fact. The park right now is only 360 some acres, but we own a little less than 700 acres.

Wow, I didn't know that. I thought that the land was close to being all the way full. Then why did they tare down KC? I'm not complaining.

PKI has tons of space. They tore down King Cobra because of maintenance costs. With TOGO gone, it was hard to get parts. Am I right? Plus capacity is very low.

Maybe they can add in that hotel we've been talking about? That would be a really great (and smart) idea on their part!

Indeed. However, a Hotel would take a lot of space, including a parking lot for it. I would much rather see a massive coaster go in any available areas.

"There is some space to put some rides and a good sized coaster behind Son of Beast,"

Yes, there is quite a bit of space there, however I sincerely doubt that the park will expand in THAT direction anytime soon. I personally believe that future rides will be incorperated into previously developed areas of the park. Rides may extend into undeveloped areas, however I think their origins (entrances) will adhere to the current midways.

"The park right now is only 360 some acres, but we own a little less than 700 acres. "

WE?

"With TOGO gone, it was hard to get parts. "

Togo isn't gone. Togo is a company based in Japan. In the US it uses Premier Rides (Yes, the makers of FOF) as it's distributer. Premier Rides is based in the Cincinnati area...just a hop skip and a jump from PKI. KC was removed because it was no longer seen as a viable draw. It's upkeep time/cost outweighed it's marketability. It occupied prime mid-way real estate and it's removal allowed for a better and much more lucrative use.

"Maybe they can add in that hotel we've been talking about? "

Hotel? The company removed themselves from the motel/hotel accomodations business because it was not a profitable entity. I doubt they would ever want to return to a poor investment.

"They just need to buy back the old Kings Island Inn & Resort and one section at a time redo it and make it great.

Don't hold your breath waiting for that to happen ;-)

So yes PKI still owns a lot of land, (only about half of what it used to own though, a mistake on there part I feel but what do I know.) But here is the probablem a lot of land is very hilly and would be very costly to develope. and probably the biggiest factor is that the undeveloped land is a buffer between PKI and the growing communities around it. I would venture to say that although PKI only has half of the land developed the park will never grow much larger then it's current size, some rides may go out into the undeveloped area, but I doubt any new midways will be made. With that said let me speculate on where I feel next years attraction will be, atleast part of it. I say look for it to be in the old salt water friends area. The stadium is gone and that side of the cars has been closed for years. The area is actually a large area, and is currenlty very dead. Shaggy has also dropped a couple lines may or may not be hints... As in "An anoucement right around the corner" when refering to the TR display, and "don't hold your breath" (hmm if I remeber there is a lake over there) yeah I am probably reading way too much into this, but hey it's all in good fun right. I personally would love to see PKI take a year off from rides and revamped what they have, ie building upgrades, theaming repairs, a new park sounds system, lighting, front entrance etc... Oh yeah Shaggy is you would every like to talk about PKI history let me know, I love the park and love talking about it's rich history.

Based on my research for The Unofficial Guidebook to Paramount's Kings Island, I concur with Mr. Shaggy that The Kings Island Resort was sold in the mid-1970s because it was not very profitable.

Additionally, based with my communications with high ranking park officials, I cannot see PKI buidling or purchasing a hotel any time soon.

HOWEVER..........I would like to express my opinion of the situation. In the 1970s The Kings Island Resort was not very profitable. That was 30 years ago - and things have changed. The fact that many hotels have propped up all over Exits 19 and 25 is proof that there is profit to be made in the hotel business in Mason.

It would NOT be prudent for PKI to build its own hotel as the market is already saturated and little if any profit would be made. The soundest decision would be for PKI to purchase an existing and profitable hotel on Exit 25, refurbish it, theme it, and replace the senior management staff with people who can operate the hotel like a low tier Disney Resort.

Due to its historic ties and close geographic proximity to the park, I'd recommend purchasing the Kings Island Resort. In addition to the PKI guests that keep it in business, the Kings Island Resort also attracts revenues from conventions, family re-unions, etc.

PKI would be able to hold character breakfasts AND CHARGE FOR THEM LIKE DISNEY all year round on Saturdays at what is now the Main Street Grill. They would be able to charge more for family re-unions and/or conventions if Hanna-Barbera and/or Nickeloden characters made appearances.

That is my business commentary for today.

PKI has made no land mistakes, to this point. While they are not landlocked, the land that is back there is very hilly. It will cost a lot of money to either straighten it out, or to build bridges over the hills.

They probably won't really expand to much into the unused land. I mean yeah parts of rides will go in the currently unused land, just like how SoB does, but like other people have said, I also believe the ride entrances will remain on or close to the current paths. Land does not necessarily have to be flattened though, because I mean look at the land The Beast is built on. PKI still has hundreds of acres of land, some of which could house another great terrain coaster like The Beast. I've heard that the new B&M coaster next year will go somewhere around SoB and FoF, possibly behind FoF. If that's the case, then they'll probably open up the utility path behind FoF as a main path and the new coaster's entrance will probably be built off that path. I've also heard that we'll be getting a Huss Giant Delirium in Rivertown, supposedly somwhere back behind the Wings Diner, across from White Water Canyon. http://www.hussrides.com/34GiantDelirium.htm

I don't know if either of these things are true, but this is just what I've heard.

Oh yeah, one thing Shaggy Premier rides is in Maryland not Ohio

He's right, Shaggy. Premier is in Millersville, Maryland. Now, the Rollercoaster Corperation of Texas/TOGO International is located in Cincinnati. Here's the problem: according to my listings, they have two web pages, togorides.com and rcca.com. Now, togorides.com apparently no longer exists, but if you go to rcca.com, it will bring you to a web page about the company and it seems like they are more concerned with building and revamping wooden rollercoasters, so I doubt it has anything to do with the TOGO that built KC.
