HTCO Posted August 11, 2009 Posted August 11, 2009 I think its funny how in The Vortex picture, it says you will go through two vertical loops, one corkcrew, and one bomerang turn. Quote

coaster_junky Posted August 11, 2009 Posted August 11, 2009 ^it reminds me of one of those blobs that people use on lakes. Quote

striker7 Posted August 11, 2009 Author Posted August 11, 2009 Found a 1972 park map, no idea what the "pillow" is Quote
coaster_junky Posted August 11, 2009 Posted August 11, 2009 wow, did the train actually run the opposite way that it does today as the map suggest? Quote
markr Posted August 11, 2009 Posted August 11, 2009 Why, oh why, did they have to get rid of the Enchanted Voyage? Agony! Quote
HTCO Posted August 11, 2009 Posted August 11, 2009 I have the 1980 park map hanging on my wall. Quote
striker7 Posted August 11, 2009 Author Posted August 11, 2009 This brought back a ton of memories from when I was young. I remember my grandma dragging me on the Zodiac kicking and screaming. I hated it, she would get me up there and spin the car just to see me cry! I also remember driving some little remote controlled boats in the lake in Octoberfest. I also loved riding the rotor and that talking snail! Quote
Coaster Kid Posted August 11, 2009 Posted August 11, 2009 The boats they took out almost about 5 years ago I think along with the trucks. Quote
The Interpreter Posted August 11, 2009 Posted August 11, 2009 The pillow was the Cinema 180 theater. It was an inflated building made of rubber. You laid on the floor and watched a very dizzying movie presentation in near 3-D. Quote

Coaster Kid Posted August 12, 2009 Posted August 12, 2009 Huh I guess thats why they call it RiverTown casue it was built on a river. Never knew that learn something new everyday. Quote
Thrill_Biscuit Posted August 12, 2009 Posted August 12, 2009 Great, vintage stuff, striker, and yes, Zodiac could at times be an instrument of torture! Were the boats in Oktoberfest's pond called "Scooby's Schooners" or were those someplace else in the park? Quote
CincyMan98 Posted August 12, 2009 Posted August 12, 2009 I'm mad that I missed out on all the fun! I would've ridden almost everything there. But now it's just all about "How high can you get?" "How fast can you make it?" "How thrilling is it?". I would kind of like to have an amusement park that doesn't really care about that - like Coney Island! Quote
Coaster Kid Posted August 12, 2009 Posted August 12, 2009 But we do have a coney Island its right next to RiverBend. Quote
