coasterfreak75
I understand the trim on the first drop is there to protect the track on the left turn at the bottom. But what I don't understand is the trim on the second hill, at the top before you drop and come up into the old trim station before the big tunnel. Why is that trim there? What is it's purpose? Just wondered if anyone knew.
BoObKiNoS
Deal with it, there is going to be trims on the ride. Its there to protect the track...the ride is like 20 some years old you know
Captain Picard
Its there to protect the riders and make it more enjoyable for everyone.
teenageninja
It's too slow down the ride for the next turn, you would think putting it at the top of the hill (going up) would work better, but that would prone it to valleying, and that would be no good. That turn has been redone several times due to the stress put on the track, that is why we have a trim there.
Dane
Like BoObKiNoS said, all trims are to protect the track.
Captain Picard
That is not what Jeffrey Siebert said, it was posted on this site earlier this year.

RiSK
heh. Like it or not, those arent going away. You have to understand the amount of force pushed down onto the track as the train reaches the bottom, or comes screaming around a turn. The faster its moving, the more force is hammered onto the ride. As much as i dont like them either, I have come to accept them. They arent going away, unfortunelly, but im glad this will help The Beast stay in operation for many more years.
Captain Picard
As posted by Aaron. PKI is in no way making The Beast slower, or worse, they are improving the ride quality. The first curve out of the tunnel was simply not adequately designed when The Beast first opened, and over the years, it has been showing excessive wear and tear. Because of the new brakes that they introduces last year, the ride is running faster than it has been running in 20 years, and they thought it would be best to re-engineer the first curve to handle these increased forces. By retracking the ride, that makes the ride smoother and more enjoyable. All wooden coasters that are properly maintained are retracked every few years... Son of Beast is basically retracked every offseason because of the extreme wear and tear there is
