Diamondback96
... We will also be upgrading and rebuilding the children’s areas at five of our parks, while three other parks will be introducing a night time light show on display that proved very popular with guests at Cedar Point this past year. We have found that attractions like this are not capital intensive but resonate well with our guests bringing a new layer of entertainment to our parks. ... http://seekingalpha.com/article/170967-ced...anscript?page=5 So what parks will be getting this? I could see Valleyfair, WoF, and DP getting this. KBF probably won't ge getting it because they are getting Demon Drop next year.
CedarPointer
I hope they figure out a way to make the extention cords less obvious. It looked great at night, but not-so-great during the day.

bkroz
Well for what it's worth (a grain of salt), Screamscape had rumored that Kings Island and Worlds of Fun were to be the recipients next year. Just sayin'.
Beast1979
Glad to see CF is putting this installation chain-wide. It's great and very succesful at Cedar Point, and I'm sure it will be similar at other parks. I also can see them being added at more parks in future years. I wouldn't shoot down the idea of KI getting one just yet.
CedarPointer
I could see WoF getting it, that park is incredibly dark at night anyway. It'd be great in the Africa area near Zulu... if I'm remembering the park correctly.

Perhaps Kings Island could get a Starlight Experience, that was just a long, light-infested pathway through The Beast woods. Not close enough to distract from The Beast, of course, but just a quarter mile walking path through the woods with all the lights surrounding you... Or perhaps back where Trail of Terror is! Beast1979
IMO, not a chance. To much of a hassle to put it out back away from the park, and very little guest exposure! I see it either going on a midway, like Coney Mall, or Tower Gardens. Remember: KI is NOT getting one next year. If our Kiddie Area is being revamped, we don't get a Starlight Experience. But in future years, 2011 likely, we could see one. By then, who knows.
Guest rcfreak339
I say Kings Island gets one. The area near carousal would be a perfect place to put it.

CoastersRZ
Yes, the press release (and conference call) stated the parks that were not receiving Snoopy rethemes would be getting the Starlight Experience. That being said, two of the parks that are getting Snoopy rethemes are also installing major new thrill rides for next season as well. So could KI get a Starlight Experience next year? Sure. Will they? I doubt it, but never say never.
Beast1979
I still am left to wonder even who will own Kings Island in two, three, or four years out. If we are still under current management then I would assume that at one point we'll be in line for one. But to assume that current management still owns KI in future years is a risky bet, we might see a change of hands again before our next roller coaster, possibly before Starlight Experience comes our way in a year or two, depending on how the collection of nickels goes. Which reminds me, I wonder if Cedar Fair will try and make this a real money maker and make it an upcharge attraction. They're in debt of course, I'd imagine they'd be trying to collect as much revenue as possible!

Have we determined yet that Dick is talking about Starlite Experience, because like the title says it is an experience and not a show and it was not listed as a show at Cedar Point. The Starlite Experience does however fits Dick description of display that proved very popular with guests at Cedar Point this past year. We have found that attractions like this are not capital intensive but resonate well with our guests bringing a new layer of entertainment to our parks I personally can se the Starlite Experience going into every park at some point as once it is set up all that needs to be done is moving a few light displays in and turning everything on. A popular Cedar Point light show which debuted this year was called "Hot Summer Nights" . and it was listed as a show. This show is more expensive than the Starlight Experience but I think compared to other live shows with live performers I think it fits into Dicks description too. I honestly feel like the Starlight Experience could easy be added to any park next year that desired it with no need to refer to it at a board meeting, which would give each park something to boast about through a press release closer to the start of the season without giving it away now. The Hot Summer Nights Show is a bigger expense and I think adds to a park so much so that they can use that as a major addition to their park for the upcoming season. That kind of expense should be reported to the board, just my opinion.
CedarPointer
KI should get one, considering we are getting a downgraded kids area and no new attraction, but apparently we aren't.

Why can this not mean "three parks other than Cedar Point"? You know what I mean? Like, new parks will be getting it, that haven't had it before. Instead of "three parks that aren't getting the Snoopy thing".
KI Kevin
KI should get one, considering we are getting a downgraded kids area and no new attraction, but apparently we aren't. Downgraded kids areas still cost nickels, you know. And if CF sells its parks, KI will be sold after many of the others.
bkroz
And if CF sells its parks, KI will be sold after many of the others. Agreed! Kings Island was Paramount's flagship, and now is arguably "second in command." We'd likely see a sale of all the other former Paramount Parks (perhaps save only Kings Dominion) before Kings Island were to go. But that would open a whole new can of worms... If Kings Dominion were sold, would one of the parks have to de-alienize their Flight of Fear? Rename International Street? Retheme The Crypt? The parks are a bit too eerily similar to be separated from each other. I suppose that can be said of all of the Paramount Parks, though. KI Kevin
The parks are a bit too eerily similar to be separated from each other. I wouldn't say that so quickly. Marriott doesn't go by that statement. Link One Link Two
JAHill
KI should get one, considering we are getting a downgraded kids area and no new attraction, but apparently we aren't. A new kids area is a new attraction within itself. (It's not a downgrade either. )
CedarPointer
Unless CF installs theming equal to or better than Paramount's theming (which I doubt will happen), I would certainly call it a downgrade. But that's a discussion for another thread.
