Gold Pass Meal Discounts

It's the answer to our prayers! From Kings Island's Twitter:

Gold Season Pass VIP perks for 2010 will include many new meal discount offers.

Thought this definitely worth its own topic. Cedar Fair is reading what we have to say! Take pride!

Of course, one can also say that partially solving a problem you created doesn't make you a hero. Perhaps they jacked up the prices just so we'd consider them saviors when they lowered them for passholders... Something to consider! But then again, I am a pessimist.

I really hope they don't go the Six Flags way of doing this. The only deals I've seen are the family meal deals they have. They aren't offering a real good discount to begin with, and they have WAY too much food in them for anyone who doesn't have at least 3 people in their group. Make it simple; 15% (or hopefully 20%!) discount on any food purchase. One simple button for attendants to press for the discount and it's much more uniform across the park. It also has the added benefit of passholders not trying to fiddle around with where the discount may or may not apply. Color me curious as to exactly how the deals will work out.

If the park is really smart they need to do what Dollywood does. Not only you get Unlimited visits to Dollywood but you get Free parking and 20% Off Food, Merchandise, Rentals and Kennels at Dollywood.

ONLY with gold passes. Regular season passes at Dollywood do NOT get you discounts on food or merchandise, nor do you get free parking. Most families with passes down there have one family member get the gold pass, while the others get regular passes.

Kings Island had family meal deals and other chains had their various deals long before we discussed them here.

I haven't been to a Six Flags park in a few years, but it sounds to me like you're describing Kings Island's old meal deals. I remember them having a large LaRosa's Pizza, four Cokes and a family salad and a few other deals like that. To me, a certain percentage off would be a lot more appealing. Of course, they did in fact offer a discounted rate at Rivertown Junction last year, so we'll have to wait and see what happens.

Witch is why I got a 2010 Gold Season Pass because of the perks at Dollywood.

Well, as posted in another forum, Gold Pass perks have been posted. The different meal deals include Subway, LaRosas (same thing as in the past), Cinnabon packs, Backyard BBQ, Rivertown Junction, and funnel cakes. Not really what I would hope for (I might use the funnel cake one, but maybe not because it is before 5pm ONLY, and/or the Rivertown Junction/Backyard BBQ, but probably not). But, it is CF, so I shouldn't have expected anything different.

I want to spend money in the park. I want to help them thrive but I can't bring myself to pay too much for too little. Sounds like Salad Bar at Ruby Tuesdays again this year. Which, honestly is now a tradition I don't want to break. CF looses out on many nickels from Gibson.

ON second though, I never did try Backyard BBQ and I've heard good things. $10 isn't too bad. We'll see.
