Six Flags: Play Passes and Season Passes

What is the difference (pricing, benefits, etc.)? I plan to visit at least 3 Six Flags parks in 2010, and I am really not sure which one is the best buy.

I don't plan to add parking to a pass, because I will likely be traveling with a few others who have parking on theirs.

It works like this: Play passes give you free unlimited admission to all Six Flags Parks.

Season passes give you free unlimited admission to all Six Flags Parks, 5 free tickets to friends, in park discounts, and a value book with &300 in savings.

At Kentucky Kingdom, the play pass is $29.99 and the Season Pass is $39.99. Which is a STEAL, because at almost every other park, only a season pass is offered, and even if they are, they're offered at at least $20 more.

I got a play pass for $30 at Kentucky Kingdom, and I couldn't be happier. All of my friends have passes with parking and discounts so it doesn't matter for me. If they're buying pizza they can get the pass discount on their pass and I can pay them back. I have free and unlimited admission to every Six Flags park and it cost less then a single admission at Kings Island.

So, unless you want a book of $300 worth of mindless savings, want to pay $5 less for ice cream (Even though your friends can already) or want to take 5 or family members along, I say get yourself a play pass. It's essentially the same thing for a VERY generous price.

I was looking at the passes the other day. Six Flags passes look like a deal next to what Cedar Fair is asking. I have been wanting to go on a great adventure and it looks like it maybe time.

Are the free tickets only good for the park that you get the pass from?

Generally yes. Also know that special events like Coasters After Dark at Great Adventure are generally open ONLY to those with season passes, NOT play passes. And play pass benefits differ from park to park, with some parks not offering play passes at all. This may also help:

It doesn't say online, I'd imagine only at the park you buy it from.

Then again, this is the same park that offers unlimited visits to all parks for the same prices as a single day admission....

What is Coasters After Dark?

Coasters After Dark is a Great Adventure sponsored roller coasters ERT for passholders only held once each year. It is usually busy but not ridiculously so. Think Diamondback ERT but after park closing or on a Friday when the park would otherwise be closed (or had had a group that day).

How do they horde out all of the single day people and keep it all season pass people?

Last year it was on a Friday from 6 to 10...and before that there was a group that, I believe, left at 5...

darn. I'm going to Magic Mountain for the first time ever in a few weeks, and I'll most likely get a season pass as it's the same price as a one-day ticket. Which means I'll be getting 5 tickets to Magic Mountain haha. I suppose I'll just give them to my uncle in San Diego or something.

Wow not having to been to any Six Flags park ever I just had to jump on this deal. I got a couple of trips planned. I don't expect anything much out of Kentucky Kingdom though. Can't wait to hit up Great Adventure.
