kossman
with all the talk of redoing parts of the park I was wondering how much property do they have that is not being used. To me it seems like they have a lot of room for expansion if they wanted to (unlike Cedar Point). I am very curious if anyone knows the answer to this. Mr. Fusion
PKI owns about 700 acres. They've only used about 350. I might be wrong though. Edited January 1, 1970 by fusiondude09
coasterrz
I believe that PKI owns about 750 acres. They originally owned 1600 acres, but sold all but the 750. The current park is about 364 acres.
Xx2cansamxX
Then they have room for a giant coaster for 2005.
Magic41445
Yes, this is one of the facts that i like about PKI, the park has enough extra acreage to more than double its size. I guess half of the thanks would have to go to Walt Disney's brother Roy Disney. Back when the park was in its planning stages the head of taft broadcating consulted Roy. And given that Disneyland had such little additional acreage, his opinon was to buy land and buy more land. And so far it looks like management is doing a pretty good job at preserving that aditional acreage for future expansion. I'm actually a bit surprised that they have yet to tap into it..but it does bode well for the future of the park in comparison to CP which virtually no more additional acreage. coasterbilly
man it's really hard to think that PKI has that much land owned and they haven't used it yet. It also looks like it doesn't have that much besides the land the park is already on.
skatefanjeff
Cedar Point has a lot more land than people think. There is plenty over by the Camper Village, but Cedar Point is on a Pennisula, which could cause some problems in a while, but they already started buying additional land on the main land. If you want o check out a link to a nice photo that shows they have land I'll give you the link. Just found the link http://said.uc.edu/students/oakleysd/cp/CP.jpg Edited January 1, 1970 by skatefanjeff
DragonLord
Actually the park owns somewhere around 796 acres, of which only 360 has been used. Italianchef would know for a fact, but we can double the size of the park easily.
DragonLord
Okay, I will correct myself. According to Warren County's Auditor's office, the park officially owns 630.2746 acres. You can click on the linke to see the property line outlined in yellow. http://home.cinci.rr.com/thegopreport/pkip...ropertyline.jpg Click on the link below to see a close up of the park. http://home.cinci.rr.com/thegopreport/pki1.jpg
Dane
I just got an idea. The older man that works the Effil Tower Elevator says 750 acre's of land. It would be funny if somebody spoke up and said, "No! They own 630.2746 acre's!" *The joke said above does is not promoted by Dane or PKIU in any way. Dane and PKIU does not affilited for your actions. **The warning stated above is a crappy joke that I thought was funny when Iit was in my head. lol. Tanner
That would be pretty funny, what do you think he would say back?
coasterrz
Actually Dragon Lord, correct me if I`m wrong, but in your first link, isn`t the yellow property line cutting through half of PKI`s parking lot? Or am I just looking at the picture wrong? Are you talking about George, the old gray haired guy who works on the Eiffel Tower? George is a funny guy. He used to work on the train last season or in 2001. The time I rode when he was giving his "story" with all sorts of puns and jokes was the time I had the most fun on the train since they took out the figures. IcarusLives
I'm glad they have that much room. It means we won't see any "parking lot" rides. Which if you ever rode Shockwave at Six Flags Great America, you know what I mean.
Mr. Fusion
It means we won't see any "parking lot" rides or any floorless parking lot coasters...
IcarusLives
For those who never rode Shockwave at Six Flags Great America, they built it on the parking lot but did nothing in the way of landscaping. They were still yellow lines from the parking lot under the ride. Looked REAL nice. So be happy that PKI has all that great wooded land. It means they will be able to give us some amazing rides for a long time.
Tanner
Scream! at Six Flags Magic Mountain is the same way. Six Flags likes parking lots.
teenageninja
The problem with a lot of KI's land is it is pretty hilly and almost unusable, KI would have to fill in some of the ravines and stuff like that.

SixFlagsMasta
now that i think about it when i went up in the tower like last season i think i had a old guy for the operator and i remember laughing at something he said. but can't remember what it was so yea he's funny

The disclaimer on the auditor's site: "The map parcel lines shown are approximate and are intended to represent Warren County for the current tax year; however, information on specific parcels may not be current. This information cannot be construed or used as a 'legal Description ' of a parcel." They could be wrong... the maps aren't working now so I can't check that out for you. BoddaH1994
lol...I love the old guy in the tower! I had a friend come in from out of town and I took her to the park for her first time, and the first thing we did was go up in the tower. As he was telling his horrible jokes, she kept giving me these "where the hell did you take me??" looks. It was great!
