CedarPointer
Was there any particular reason that KI removed most of the detail work from the marquee sign? It doesn't appear to be Paramount-related... Compare: Before: Current: (and, no, I obviously don't mean the PKI logo.)
Captain Picard
Because it looked too much like this http://images.search.yahoo.com/images/view?back=http%3A%2F%2Fimages.search.yahoo.com%2Fsearch%2Fimages%3Fp%3Dparamount%2Bstudios%2Bgate%26sado%3D1%26n%3D21%26ei%3Dutf-8%26fr%3Dyfp-t-701-s%26fr2%3Dsg-gac&w=450&h=300&imgurl=www.seeing-stars.com%2FImages%2FSlides%2FParamountGate.JPG&rurl=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.seeing-stars.com%2FImagePages%2FParamountGatePhoto1.shtml&size=42k&name=ParamountGate+JP...&p=paramount+studios+gate&oid=eba71dbe5e239746&fr2=sg-gac&no=1&tt=64&sigr=120hm2ea6&sigi=11kc9epee&sigb=13k39bm6p It would seem that it is Paramount-related. Shaggy
Ouch, I am old... I can't believe folks don't immediately recognize the Bronson Gate. CedarPointer
I guess it's another incident of CF removing details then adding nothing in their place. Just like the Action Zone sign, various things in former Paramount themed rides, the Paramount Story... kind of a shame.
coaster_junky
i like the new sign, maybe plain, but a more modern feel to it.
KIBOB
Yes, after the original marquee sign was completely destroyed by wind storms (in 2002 i believe?) Kings Island designed the new sign to resemble the gates to the Paramount movie studios. Back in 2007, before they modified the marquee, i kept thinking that CF would just wind up tearing the sign down because of the extensive details on it. However, thankfully, they just modified the sign which i thinks looks suprisingly good. P.S. Does anyone know of any pictures of the old marquee before the pki logo was put on it

Or did it always look like that and Paramount just attached their moniker to the top.
The Interpreter
That pre-windstorm sign IS the original sign, though it did have the Old English script Kings Island on it in orange, before Paramount arrrived...the rounded addition at the top was a Paramount addition. Thanks for clearing that up, i dont think that there are any pictures of the Old English version though. That would be great if there were some, i have never seen the pre-paramount sign. Coney Islander
What happened to the original font? It's much more unique than the Paramount, and especially the Cedar Fair one. The old sign is an ugly color, though... Maybe a white background would have been much better?
The Interpreter
Note the coloring on the cars as well. What you are seeing is an aging color photograph from years ago. The sign did not actually look that dark...

thatbandguy8807
I will agree to that lol I have hit the point in the dreadful OS where I recap the history of the park... Diamondback96
The sign probably looked more like this, from what Terpy's saying: Brightened it up in Paint.NET.
