The Interpreter Posted February 9, 2010 Author Posted February 9, 2010 ...Geologists said the mud was moving 20 to 30 miles per hour. Experts said the mudslide may have been triggered by heavy rain and snow. The failure of a retaining wall at the "Ghost Town" amusement park may have also contributed to the problem.Rick Wooten, of the North Carolina Geological Survey, said the mudslide -- which is also known as a debris flow -- was 3,000 feet long, 90 feet wide and created a wave of mud about 30 feet high. Tammy Biedler's house took the brunt of the slide. She was trapped inside for a short time. It took three days for her to want to come back to see the damage by daylight. She said, "Mud goes everywhere. It's all over the ceiling. There's a big gooey pile by the furniture. It's nothing you want to see. It's heartbreaking. "Now, with more bad weather predicted, homeowners are bracing for a possible round two.... http://www.wyff4.com/news/22502922/detail.html# Quote

Ghost Town in the Sky Future Dim? Good luck getting blood from that turnip. Edit: Fixed Link. Quote
RollerNut Posted March 11, 2010 Posted March 11, 2010 Ghost Town's future has been dim for about a decade now. The park closed in 2002, and even in 2002, the park''s star attraction was closed with scalfolding up around it's supports. Ghost Town should have never reopened in 2007, it is also worth noting that half the rides have not reopened or were removed because they were beyond repair. Ghost Town has been doomed since even before it closed in 2002. It all started with the problems with the chairlift in the early 2000s. Quote
