Till Adam gets the photos up, I will start some of the days details.

We left my house north of Columbus at 5:00 pm and headed for Adam's house. We got stuck behind some woman talking on her cell phone driving in the left lane right next to a pick up with both of them doing the same speed. This went on for an eternity or so it felt. We finally made it do Adam's at 7:00 pm about 1/2 hour later then we should have.

After hitting the road we were able to make up some time. Traffic really moves down I-75 At one point I called out Millennium Force as we hit 93 mph. I then announced that TTD was next, but I was only joking.

We pulled into the hotel parking lot at 2:00 am and were tucked into bed by 2:30.

I woke up a 7:00 am (I always get up at 7) and we were all ready to head to the park by 9:00 am. We got to the park a few minutes later where we had an issue with parking. We ended up having to pay for parking and then get it refunded. We were early enough so this did not effect us getting into the park when the gates opened.

Once the park opened we headed over to Goliath along with most everyone else. We got all the way up to the station stairs were the line stopped. About 10 minutes later they announced that the ride would not open for at least an hour. While I was not happy that it was delayed, I was POed that they even had the line open with someone at the lockers making people stow there stuff.

Adam was getting a bit steamed and wanted to head to GR, but I was able to divert our group to Shake Rattle & Roll. It is an indoor scrambler that really moves. Next we headed to Monsters Mansion and enjoyed my 2nd favorite dark ride (splash mountain is my #1). We were walking back toward the Gotham City area to ride another flat when we heard the familiar roar of a B&M. We crossed under the bridge and spotted Batman testing. We got to the ride just before the attendant announced that the ride was open. We got to the empty station and grabbed the front row for the first ride of the day. Batman was running much better then I remember from last year. It rivaled Raptor for intensity. While we were riding we could see Mind Bender running with a 1/2 empty train.

After we got off of Batman, we quickly walked up the queue to Mind Bender. This is my favorite looping sit down coaster. It packs the perfect amount of force and air. As the train was pulling back into the station we could hear a horn coming from the direction of Goliath. We climbed the hill from the Gotham City area to entrance of Goliath. They were still only running 1 train, but at least they were running. After a 20 minute wait we loaded into the back row for the first of our 4 laps on this beautiful B&M hyper. The ride was full of floater air and plenty of thrills. The helix is pure art in it's design. I swear on this run that the trim at the bottom was off. All other trips that day it was definitely on.

By this time the temps had come up so we decided to head to the parking lot to drop our hoodies and leave the park for some lunch. On the way we got a quick lap on Georgia Scorcher and stopped by Guest Relations to gripe about the parking and one train operations. We spoke with Blair at GR and he offered us some exit passes to help make it a 6 flags day.

More tomorrow as it is time for bed.

Here are some of the reasons we went to GR while non of them is a major, when you have driven 9 hours each one piles on the other.

  1. Coasters Opening late
  2. Forcing people to use lockers for coasters that were not open
  3. Parking issue
  4. Long waits for the amount of people in the station
  5. Long load times (this is excusable due to training)
  6. GASM closed to the public for a radio contest. They could have at least added a second train for the public instead of closing the ride.
  7. Acrophobia closed
  8. Acme Canyon Blaster closed

We did also complement many of the employees by name. This were not employee issues. These were park operation issues.

Adam, how are we doing with those photos?

Hey guys, heading to Six Flags Ga this June. Any tips like where to stay, rides to hit first, food (good or bad). How about any other attractions that are there to enjoy? I have heard about Underground Atlanta? I do not know if this is the correct name. Someone said it was shopping, restaurants, and bars/ club? Any info would be appreciated. Thanksrolleyes.gif

I prefer Six Flags over Texas' Shock Wave WAY over SFOG's Mindbender. The extremity of air and forces was far greater; but Mindbender does look nicer. Goliath tops Diamondback in my opinion...Goliath has the air and the forces, as well as the landcape with the layout. Diamondback's layout is nice, but flying through the trees at the end of Goliath is sooo much fun. Oh yeah, Goliath's helix kicks the crap out of any positive/lateral force Diamondback tries to throw at you!

Wow, I love Mindbender. If Shockwave is as good as you say, I think it could possibly be one of my favorite coasters. I like Diamondback a little bit better than Goliath. Diamondback's big hills (pre-MCBR) have better airtime than Goliath's big hills (all the hills before the horseshoe turn). Goliath's small hills (the ones in the trees) are wayyyyy better than Diamondback's small hills though, and Goliath has much better lateral G's than Diamondback ever will!

If you are even thinking of going downtown or to suburban Atlanta, you absolutely, positively must eat at The Varsity. What'll ya have?

http://www.thevarsity.com/

We had a chance to stop there on a trip last year and I'd second this wholeheartedly. It's very reasonably priced and the food is good. They also have the best onion rings we've had anywhere, so make sure you try those if you do stop by!
