italianchef
I was wondering what other people think about the future of Hanna-Barbera Land and its characters. I am most disappointed that all the Hanna-Barbera Land characters, except for Scooby Doo, were removed. The fact that only Scooby Doo remains makes me think that if Scooby Doo weren't so popular, the whole of Hanna-Barbera Land would be annexed by Nickelodeon Central. Does anyone think that the Hanna-Barbera characters will be returned in the future? Or do you think that Hanna-Barbera Land will shrink as Nickelodeon Central grows? Any thoughts or knowledge would be most appreciated. Sincerely, Italian Chef, Huge Fan of Hanna-Barbera cartoons. TheRickster
They arent all gone. There is still alot of hanna barbera there. At a company picnic we seen them in costume. Although every year H-B land gets smaller and smaller. There are still a few buildings named after them. They are just gonna milk scooby for all its worth though so your right when scooby goes its all gonna go. Thatll probly one of the last things in h-b land that they do to finish it. Seem's like they are recreating the park area by area. Action Zone was made now its done they start work on nickelodeon central. Coney is fine the way it is. All though with the military base stuff for fof and the recent demolition of the buildings by The Racer could there be a ufo / science fiction area coming? hmmm maby itll have something to do with the new coaster whenever it comes. Id love a air force ufo type themeing with aliens walking around.
murphz
i would like an alien/military base area a great deal. I think it would be very popular and interesting to see modern themed rides. It could be a big hit with the park.
TheRickster
yup no other park would have a secret military air force base themed area either I think it would be AWESOME.
RyanA
The buildings next to The Racer have been demolished? When? If so, I'm very glad they have been. They are, to me, the biggest eye sore at the park. I think it looks bad having them there. Still, they can't destroy the one warehouse used for Maze of Madness at FearFest, atleast this year. TheRickster
Maby they moved it but if your riding the ricer (forwards) all the buildings on the left when your going down the first hill are gone. They were all red and looked sorta like barns.
BoddaH1994
lol...well, I guess we know where the future expansions for PKI will be. Hopefully, they'll bring a little more business to The Racers. It's a shame that a classic John Allen doesn't get the attention that it deserves. TheRickster
Yup Its part of the only flat spot on pki's land that is undeveloped and wouldnt have to spend a ton of time chopping tree's. I was talking to my friend and we were thinking maby they were going to give The Racer a tribute and make son of racer and have a racing steel giga coaster. lol Here are some pic's the area b4 http://www.coasterbuzz.com/coasterphotos/870.jpg Edited January 1, 1970 by TheRickster
aero11
Wait up. You are telling me that the red buildings by The Racer are gone. One of those buildings was the woodshop for the wood coasters. When did all of this happen.
TheRickster
I think like the begining of this year. I could be wrong cuase I wasnt paying attention THAT well but I dont remember seeing them at all this year.
DragonLord
I have seen some of the HB Characters out this year, but they don't bring them out often... usually just for special occasions. I like HB, and wish they would bring it back to what it was, but the kids now-a-days have no idea who most of the characters are. My bet is that slowly but surely anything HB (except for Scooby) will be rethemed to a Nick show.

PKI Homey
Chef, I am a big fan of HB characters myself. I remember when I was a kid, way back in the early days of KI(beforePKI), I was always greeted by the likes of Dino, Captain Caveman, Fred, Scooby and some others. I'm sure Scooby is still there as it seems he is as popular as ever. What I would like to see is a comic book character's day with the likes of Daredevil, Spider-Man, Batman, X-Men, etc.
TheRickster
Only problem with that is it probly wont be pki. Im not sure on spiderman bur the others are all owned by other companies that own other parks. Universal and Time Warner.
Beastfreak
Again... Time Warner does not own any parks. Six Flags is now its own company again.

IcarusLives
That's not to say you would never see any characters at any parks. Almost any company will allow use of their characters if the price is right. Look at Spiderman. Marvel owns the rights but gives Sony the movie rights, Universal has the rights to use him in a ride, and , recently, MTV (a Viacom/Paramount company) has began airing a new Spiderman series. And I think Nick (also Viacom) has a presence at Universal Studios. As to the disappearence of the HB characters..it could be for several reasons. Maybe Time Warner (they dropped the AOL from their name last week) wants too much for the use. Maybe the costumes are too much to maintain. Last time I saw Captain Caveman, he was looking pretty ratty. But the biggest reason, I think, is that kids don't know who the older characters are. Very few kids would recognize Quick Draw McGraw, Huckleberry Hound, or Top Cat. They aren't shown too much on Cartoon Network (maybe more on Boomerang). Yeah, it was always a thrill to see Fred Flintstone or Jabber Jaws when I was little. But I'm sure kids today feel the same way when they see Eliza, Chuky, or Spongebob. I am hoping to see some characters from Fairly Oddparents show up at the park soon Edited January 1, 1970 by IcarusLives
TheRickster
Spiderman is the exception. It seem's to be everywhere. Nickelodeon being at universal is because thats where their studio's where first located and they have a aggreement with them for a LONG time since nick's beginings. I dont see them moving the whole studio anytime soon. Universal pay's for Nick to be there I believe.
AZ Kinda Guy
BTW, those "red buildings" are still next to The Racer. They haven't gone anyhwere... Now stop by this weekend and if you look, you will notice something is missing.

PKI Homey
I would agree that kids these days more than likely don't know the old HB characters. And yes, most are played on Boomerang, but I don't know of too many people who get that network. Guess you could look at it as a changing of the guard.
