Pillsberry123 Posted April 9, 2010 Posted April 9, 2010 How are the crowds early in the season (April-Early May) This is my first year with a pass and I want to use them as much as possible so I'd like to go early in the year to kick the season off. I'm assuming that opening day will be packed, but how are the other days in April/May? Quote
DBru Posted April 11, 2010 Posted April 11, 2010 Bumping this because I have a question that falls under this topic: In theory, would crowds be much heavier on the second Saturday in May than the first? The second Saturday would be more convenient, but if the lines would be much lighter on the first, it may be worth it... Quote

IndyGuy4KI Posted April 11, 2010 Posted April 11, 2010 During weekends I like to go on Sundays and the park does not usually get busier till about 1- to 2 pm. (Once Church let's out.) I take many vacation days to go on weekdays to enjoy smaller lines! Quote
markr Posted April 11, 2010 Posted April 11, 2010 From my experience crowds tend to be rather heavy on Saturdays in May when there are a lot of church outings to the park. Of course, as Terpy says, it depends upon the weather. Quote
IndyGuy4KI Posted April 11, 2010 Posted April 11, 2010 More depends on weather than most anything else... And if it is a corporate day for certain companies. I remember going a few years ago on a Sunday and it was a GM day and the park was packed! Quote
BavarianBeatle Posted April 11, 2010 Posted April 11, 2010 If it's sunny and 82 degrees, it will be packed. If it's raining and 42 degrees, it will be empty. If it's in between, the crowds will be, well, somewhere between packed and empty. Quote
kiruler102 Posted April 11, 2010 Posted April 11, 2010 If you go on Fridays when the park opens from 5-10 in april and may. It shouldnt get too busy. Quote

If it's in between, the crowds will be, well, somewhere between packed and empty. These days, if it is raining and 42 degrees, and it isn't supposed to stop or get warmer and the park is empty, it may well very close... Six Flags and Cedar Fair both have closed parks rather than keep them open to sparse crowds in the past season... And, even if the park is open under such conditions, many rides will not operate...Cedar Fair's rain policy and cold weather policy are both more strict than was seen under Paramount. Quote
RD Reynolds Posted April 11, 2010 Posted April 11, 2010 Are there unusually large crowds for opening day? I've never been, but plan on going this year, weather permitting... RD Quote
KI FANATIC 37 Posted April 11, 2010 Posted April 11, 2010 If you want to go on a weekday, try to go on Tuesdays and Thursdays. It has been proven that those are (on average) the lightest days for crowds. Quote
frisbeefan Posted April 13, 2010 Posted April 13, 2010 Are there unusually large crowds for opening day? I've never been, but plan on going this year, weather permitting... RD With the additions of Planet Snoopy and Boo Blasters, as well as Diamondback I would imagine it most likely would be pretty busy. I went last year and it was busy for Diamondback, but unfortunately I can't recall how the rest of the park was, sorry. The weather forecast is calling for chilly temps in the morning though, so it could be a little less crowded then. Quote
