The Interpreter
...The enormous 33-metre pylons that support 689 metres of tracks have been grounded in the drained bed of Lac aux Dauphins. When the ride is completed and the lake is refilled, riders will skim approximately three metres over the surface of the water. The new ride is called Ednor, and is named for a sea monster that two construction workers allegedly spotted in the St. Lawrence River just after the lake was drained for the construction. With tongue planted firmly in cheek, representatives from La Ronde claim there really was a sea monster living in Lac aux Dauphins. A blurry video of the monster can be seen at www.laronde.com. The new ride, costing slightly more than $10 million, is the last bit of a $90-million investment Six Flags made in the amusement park. http://www.montrealg...0638/story.html A follow-up, with more information here: http://www.montrealg...2667/story.html (Fast is 49.7 miles per hour. Fast is relative...)
DaveStroem
I love the back story to Ednor. The videos are great too. I would almost look forward to riding this if I didn't know it is just another hang & bang. http://laronde.com/ednor/en/index.html
CoastersRZ
Heck, nearly 50 miles per hour is fast compared to some rides that only go a couple miles an hour! Of course this is NOT a new ride. The ride opened as Serial Thriller at Six Flags Astroworld. Upon the closure of that park, the ride was moved to the Great Escape where it resided in storage from 2005-2009. And then it was moved to La Ronde for this season.
DaveStroem
How do they get away with calling this a new ride, this is Serial Thriller from Astroworld. Where do they get the $10 million dollar number from too? Being a moved ride that originally opened in 1999 I don't see how the can call it a $10 million dollar investment in La Ronde. I wonder if it will be any better then other SLCs since it is a fresh installation?

Well, with the exchange rate American to Canadian and vice versa, then factor in the moving costs, let's see... then carry the 1... yup, $10 million is what I come up with too! The Interpreter
About which: Six Flags Tries To Erase Coaster Fans' Minds: ...Clones of the off-the-shelf ride appear at many other parks, many with the name Mind Eraser, and are generally not highly regarded. The Canadian park is making a valiant effort to re-brand the coaster, which it has named Ednor. A silly viral campaign, about a sea monster lurking in the St. Lawrence River, preceded the announcement of the coaster's name. You can learn more about Ednor and the sea monster legend at La Ronde's webiste. But really, it's the same old Mind Eraser clone. http://themeparks.about.com/b/2010/04/16/new-six-flags-roller-coaster.htm To say an SLC is "generally not highly regarded" is to be very kind.
