PKI Homey Posted October 12, 2003 Posted October 12, 2003 I was just checking out some of the other Paramount Park web sites because I want to visit King's Dominion and Carowinds. Here's my question...How many rides are clones of others at PKI or other Paramount Parks. Examples: Ricochet-there seems to be one at Carowinds and at PKD. Are they the same layout? I do know that the FOF at PKD is exactly the same as the one at PKI. What about Runaway Reptar? Is that the same one at PKD that they have at PKI and PGA? And, is Top Gun: The Jet Coaster the same as the one at PGA? And The Vortex standing coaster at Carowinds...is that the same one as PGA's? Quote
fyrfyter Posted October 12, 2003 Posted October 12, 2003 Top Gun at PGA and PC are different, Very different. The one at PC is built on a very small plot of land, and spends much of its time under and over the various walkways in the park. The vorted rides are different as well. Quote

Vortex Posted October 13, 2003 Posted October 13, 2003 I remember reading somewhere that Racer at PKI and Rebel Yell at PKD are basically the same layout, except the Rebel Yell's turnarounds don't fully split off like Racer's do. I'm not too sure about the Ricochet wild mice coasters being identical. Otherwise, I know that Invertigo at PGA has the same layout as Face/Off! Quote
CanadianChicky Posted October 15, 2003 Posted October 15, 2003 I'm from Ontario, Canada- I'm a seasons pass holder at Paramount Canada's Wonderland but was in Ohio during the summer to see what PKI was like....I absolutly loved the park but I did notice some of repetition of the rides... PKI's 'Delirium' is the same as Wonderland's 'Psyclone', we have a Drop Zone although ours is structured fairly differently its the same basic idea, Wonderland's 'Timberwolf Falls' is an exact clone of PKI's 'Congo Falls' and both parks also have 'White Water Canyon.' Other than that a lot of names are repeated throughout both parks (eg Top Gun, Vortex etc.) but the rides are completly different. Quote

Thanks for the encouragement...I noticed that a lot of the posters on here are from the US so its going to be really interesting getting your viewpoints on things too as I plan on visiting more of the Paramount parks in the summer I'm actually from Hamilton, about an hour from Toronto, but its a really easy highway commute to Wonderland from here and sometimes (depending on traffic) takes 45 min or less. Although Wonderland is a good park- and I'm sure would be great for new comers I found PKI to be much more exciting. There were more coasters and I found the park layout and scenery to be a lot nicer as well! Quote

Browntggrr Posted October 16, 2003 Posted October 16, 2003 My wife and I were disappointed with PKD. The only rides that had a significant difference that PKD had were Volcano, and Hypersonic, other than that it was like being at PKI. The nice part was that we got in for free with our season pass and Busch Gardens Williamsburg is less than an hour away. If you are thinking of going to PKD, definatly take an extra day and go to BGW- you will not be disappointed! Quote
coasterrz Posted October 16, 2003 Posted October 16, 2003 I was also slightly disappointed with PKD when I visited it back in 2000. The only rides I thouroughly enjoyed were Volcano, and The Grizzly. I also found the midway to be setup weird back by Volcano, which made it hard to get to the other side of the park. of course I haven`t visited it since they added Hpyersonic or Ricochet. I have visited Paramount`s Carowinds and found this park to be very entertaining, especially Top Gun: The Jet coaster (If PKi had a ride like this with lines that I had when I was there in 2001 and 2003, I`d be in heaven!) The Flying Super Saturator is an extremly fun ride as well as The Vortex, their stand-up coaster. Another extremly enjoyable ride was their version of Ricochet. I don`t like the fact how this park closes so early, and seems to shut down everything when rain is forecasted! Quote

You and me both. I have to say, their TG kicks some serious butt as compared to ours. I think it would be great to have some kind of coaster like that. I think one of the big things that makes that ride so much fun, is how they designed it, so that it actually loops under some of the walkways, which is very different, and needless to say a ton of fun. That will make the trip that much easier to visit both parks. I also thought that TG:The Jet Coaster looked cool as well as their Vortex. Anyone know who designed Top Gun: The Jet Coaster and Vortex both at PC? Quote

Browntggrr Posted October 17, 2003 Posted October 17, 2003 BGW does have two of my favorite B & M's- Apollo's Chairiot and Alpengeist. PKI could put in a coaster like AC to go with the terrain and nobody will be disappointed! Park capacity would also benefit because each train sits 4 across. Quote
coasterrz Posted October 17, 2003 Posted October 17, 2003 I think if PKI added a B&M hyper or a B&M flyer, it would become an instant hit. Both would be good additions to the park, but I personally think that a B&M hyper would go best in the park. PKI already has a lot of coasters that hang from the track, so a sit down hyper would provide some variety. Quote
