I was wondering if I can purchase 'bring a friend' tickets for Sunday in advance.

My problem is that my wife can't be there but I'd like to use her pass to get a $9.99 ticket (so I can bring both my parents)

Unfortunately if she can't be there I don't think you have an option. I remember reading somewhere that the passholder and the guest must purchase the ticket on the "bring a friend free" day.
