The Interpreter
Fire, the great enemy of amusement parks. I, too, hope the firefighters are okay.

CoastersRZ
Well, for some amusement parks, fire isn`t the biggest enemy. For some parks, flooding is a bigger and more consistent threat. Hopefully everyone ok, and damage is minimal.
The Interpreter
A little known fact...one of the biggest fears during flooding is fire. Electrical circuity shorts out, causes fire, and even with water everywhere, firefighters often can't get there, are busy doing evacuations or can't get equipment to the scene. rsipus13
well luckily the fire wasnt in the middle of the park where it would affect people but still building fires aren't good
faeriewench
An updated more detailed article. Sounds like it was an electrical.. http://www.sanduskyregister.com/sandusky/2010/jul/07/three-firefighters-injured-cedar-point-blaze Glad no life threatening injuries to the firefighters! Hendrick
Fire can kill smaller parks. See Idora for example.
The Interpreter
Half a million to three quarters of a million dollars worth of damage, rough estimate...and other details: http://www.morningjournal.com/articles/2010/07/07/news/doc4c34b29cedf3b530776072.txt
Adventure Express
I had been thinking about Cedar Point for most of the day that day. How Ironic it was to see that a fire had broke out that night. My thoughts go out to those Firefighters and their families. I hope that they are able to pull through this.
The Interpreter
Cause still undetermined, suspected to be an electrical problem: http://www.sanduskyregister.com/sandusky/2010/aug/20/cedar-point-blaze-cause-undetermined
