flightoffear1996
I have only been to Cedar Point on the weekdays but this year I'm not going to be able to make it on a weekday but I am heading out on a weekend. I have been watchign the camera and the lots look about the same on a weekday and weekend. Are the crowds that much different?
The Interpreter
As to Saturdays, do cats have whiskers?
Colonel_SoB_fan
I was wondering how crowded Cedar Point was on weekends in September and October?
The Interpreter
When they have their Halloween event, Saturdays can be a complete zoo, while Fridays are far less so...and can be nearly empty sometimes, especially early on. The problem is that not all the rides operate those Friday nights. Fall Sundays used to be good nights to visit and get rides in, but last year they had their Halloween event Sunday nights as well... flightoffear1996
I dont mind the 90 minute waits but much more and I dont like it. Im going with a close group of friends though but it should be fun!!!!
markr
I was at CP yesterday which was a Sunday and actually it wasn't bad. For example Millenium Force was a little under a 40 minute wait which isn't bad. In the past I have found Sundays to be one of the least busy days of the week. Also, at Coastermania weekend the first weekend in June, it wasn't busy at all on Saturday. Crowds can be unpredictable. Keep in mind though it is now July which tends to be a very busy month at CP. Even if it is crowded you can still have a lot of fun. If you have a Platinum Pass or are staying at the resorts, take advantage of ERT from 9AM - 10 AM>
flightoffear1996
I dont have a plat. pass I'm just going to get the 2 day ticket. Im going Saturday and Sunday not sure where I am going to stay yet. I have been to most hotels there other than the ones on the actual island. Browntggrr
Good weather Saturdays during Halloweekends can be argueably busier than a July/ early August weekend. Rumor has it, CP has broken a few daily attendence records on these Saturdays. And what's worse- dispatch times are longer due to some of the normal summer staff that operated the rides are not there since school is back in session. Halloweekend Fridays are usually dead, but as Terp mentioned, only a handful of rides operate. The list of operating rides will change due to staffing. Halloweekend Sundays are usually quiet. If I had to choose- I would do a Sunday. As far as weekends this time of year goes: expect 2+ hours for Maverick & MF, 1+ for all the other coasters. The park is nuts. I personally would not go. But hey- if it is the only time of year you can go- a bad day at CP is better than a good day at home.
flightoffear1996
Not that I can't but I just want to take another week off work. I have been looking at the webcams and havent been able to see much of a difference in crowds.
Dvo
Saturdays are definitely really busy, but Halloweekends are the worst. There are 3 days of the year I simply refuse to visit CP.. 4th of July, and Columbus Day Weekend. I went Columbus day one year, and it literally took us about 45 minutes just to get from Sandusky into the parking lot. And then we managed to ride 3 rides (the biggest one being Mean Streak, if that tells you anything...) and 2 haunts before going all the way back home. Brutal. markr
I have several suggestions where you can find reasonably priced accomodations: 1. Plantation Motel in Huron,Ohio-just about 10 miles from CP. Rooms are very reasonably priced and clean; 2. Seacrest Motel which is in Sandusky about 3 miles from CP. Very reasonably priced, clean rooms. The owner, Vicky, is a real sweetie: 3. Maple Motel-never stayed there but have heard great things. Very close to CP on Rt 6. You should be able to find these motels online. I have been looking at the webcams and havent been able to see much of a difference in crowds. What you cant see from the webcams, are the resort lots (only half of breakers is visible) and Soak City lot (which a lot of people use for the main park). The main lot can be quite deceiving sometimes. I dont have a plat. pass I'm just going to get the 2 day ticket. Im going Saturday and Sunday not sure where I am going to stay yet. I have been to most hotels there other than the ones on the actual island. CP is a Peninsula, connected by a sandbar. I lost an arguement once on this, I hadn't noticed the sign right behind me. As others have stated, avoid Columbus day weekend like the plague.
flightoffear1996
I was actually looking at the Dragster line. Yesterday it was full.

Good weather Saturdays during Halloweekends can be argueably busier than a July/ early August weekend. Rumor has it, CP has broken a few daily attendence records on these Saturdays. I went on the first Halloweekends Saturday last year, and the crowd was very good... a lot better than I expected it to be. Maverick was a 1 hour wait in the middle of the day (that was my longest wait for anything that day), the longest we had to wait for a haunt was 45 minutes for Happy Jack's Toy Factory. The weather was perfect... sunny and 70's during the day, then we changed into jeans and sweatshirts as the temps dropped when it got dark... so the weather wasn't keeping people away. I'm planning on going the first Halloweekends again this year. Hopefully I'll get to go on Saturday 9/18 since it's open longer than on Sunday, it depends on what my Haunt rehearsal schedule is like. I love the fact that their event starts a week before ours, that way I get a chance to go! If my experience last year is any indication, I suggest if you need to go to CP on a Saturday during Halloweekends, go the first weekend. It's just like I tell people asking about KI's Haunt... the earlier in the season you go, the better!
