Day Four July 5th: La Ronde

Soon we left Belleville and headed to Montreal!

20100705-IMG_0854.jpg

Montreal from the car.

20100705-IMG_1413.jpg

The entrance to La Ronde is different from other Six Flags parks.

20100705-IMG_0874.jpg

Watch the tram car please! Watch the tram car please! Watch the tram car please! Oops wrong park!

20100705-IMG_0875.jpg

The arcade.

20100705-IMG_0879.jpg

La Ronde is centered around a lake.

20100705-IMG_0877.jpg

Another section of the La Ronde.

20100705-IMG_0882.jpg

Ednör is across the lake from the entrance.

20100705-IMG_0897.jpg

Ednör 's drop

20100705-IMG_0904.jpg

Ednör 's sign, the theming to this ride is really cool. When you enter the building you walk through to get to the main queue is similar to Expedition Everest with signs up talking about how they found the sea monster.

20100705-IMG_0906.jpg

The second SLC of the trip!

20100705-IMG_0869.jpg

They have a very pretty carousel at the front of the park.

20100705-IMG_0895.jpg

And a very pretty one at the back too. This one is extremely slow, but has a working band organ!

20100705-IMG_0893.jpg

Le Galopant was built in 1885.

20100705-IMG_0949.jpg

Pretty carousel horses.

20100705-IMG_0911.jpg

More Ednör !

20100705-IMG_0932.jpg

If you've ever been to a Six Flags park the employees wear these bright yellow shirts with the message, "Have a heart. Do your part help keep the park clean!" this shirt had it in French since we were in Montreal.

20100705-IMG_0950.jpg

A Coke sign.

20100705-IMG_1354.jpg

20100705-IMG_0951.jpg

Something we found interesting is instead of the 3 point games they have a soccor game!

20100705-IMG_1353.jpg

They also have hockey!

20100705-IMG_1321.jpg

DiscoRonde!

20100705-IMG_1020.jpg

Toboggon Nordique's sign.

20100705-IMG_1024.jpg

20100705-IMG_1343.jpg

Toboggon Nordique is a nice mouse ride that is themed with the cars being bobsleds representing different countries.

20100705-IMG_1288.jpg

Condor and Monster across the lake.

20100705-IMG_0884.jpg

There flume looked well themed but boring!

20100705-IMG_0958.jpg

My dad's getting attacked by a shark!

20100705-IMG_1289.jpg

Orbite is their launch tower.

20100705-IMG_1041.jpg

Orbite from a distance.

20100705-IMG_1401.jpg

Vertigo is like Aero 360 at Kennywood.

20100705-IMG_1053.jpg

Cobra is unique since it is one of the two operating Intamin Standups left.

20100705-IMG_1126.jpg

The family riding Cobra, Adam sat out the second lap.

20100705-IMG_1106.jpg

20100705-IMG_1109.jpg

Look who we found! This was a very tame groundhog.

20100705-IMG_1031.jpg

Their kiddie coaster, Marche Du Mille Pattes, has a lot of laterals for a kiddie coaster!

20100705-IMG_1227.jpg

20100705-IMG_1090.jpg

Vampire is a very forceful Batman clone!

20100705-IMG_1226.jpg

Vampire's entrance is very similar to Batman the Rides'!

20100705-IMG_1391.jpg

La Monstre is an okay woodie, I didn't like it much but the rest did.

20100705-IMG_0982.jpg

Monstre's lift hill, the trains are very weird.

20100705-IMG_0970.jpg

I'm assuming this is showing you which side is which.

20100705-IMG_0966.jpg

I love this t-shirt I got!

20100705-IMG_0952.jpg

We didn't ride these but I love the sign!

20100705-IMG_1002.jpg

20100705-IMG_1347.jpg

Super Manege is like an Arrow Looper except it is a Vekoma.

20100705-IMG_0999.jpg

This is La Boomerang. The accident that happened with the three restraints happened the day after we were there!

20100705-IMG_0934.jpg

The Tour de Ville, the scenes are very pretty and detailed.

20100705-IMG_1030.jpg

There's an expensive McDonalds inside the park.

20100705-IMG_1461.jpg

Katy and I on the carousel.

20100705-IMG_1460.jpg

Daddy and Adam on the carousel.

20100705-IMG_1462.jpg

And Mom on the carousel.

20100705-IMG_1465.jpg

The mechanics of the carousel.

20100705-IMG_1464.jpg

Here is the old carousel organ I was talking about.

20100705-IMG_0962.jpg

I've saved the best ride for last!

20100705-IMG_0945.jpg

This was Katy's 200th different coaster!

20100705-IMG_1422.jpg

Goliath's lift hill.

20100705-IMG_1359.jpg

Goliath's airtime hills!

20100705-IMG_1421.jpg

Goliath's turn around.

20100705-IMG_1035.jpg

I love La Ronde's logo.

20100705-IMG_1499.jpg

Did KI have bumper cars like this at sometime?

Ride Info

Goliath is my favorite megacoaster. It has two twisty elements that are really fun!

Make sure to ride Cobra.

When Dragon starts its second lap, watch your back because it can be a surprise and can hurt really badly.

Make sure to ride the Minirail full circuit because it has great photo ops!

Good Eats

The new Place Pasta Pizza was really good, they had great spagghetti bolagnese and fettichini rosa.

We left La Ronde at closing which was nine and got lost trying to get out of the city. This was not fun since it was dark and you couldn't read the signs due to there being in French.

20100705-IMG_1510.jpg

Montreal at night was very pretty!

20100705-IMG_1515.jpg

We crossed through customs around 10:30 and were back in the United States of America!

Nice PTR, I wish I could have been there with you...............Oh wait I was there.

KICoasterGirl mentioned our lunch at the park. While still expensive, it was quite good and the pasta was cooked to order. It took about 5 minutes to get our food all of that time we could see them preparing it in a some what open kitchen. It was also a lot of food. The 4 of us split 3 entries and all were well satisfied.

I really liked Le Monstre especially the left course or Parcours 2. It had some decent air and incredible head choppers. I rode it alone for the last train of the night and got a bonus re-ride. Half of the female crew of the ride took off their park shirts and rode with us.

While Goliath may not be over 200 ft, it was still a blast. It was missing a helix but had a turnaround unlike any other B&M that I have ridden.

On Ednor, I was hoping for the newer style restraints like one of the other SLCs that we rode on this trip. This one though required you to wear your shoes/flip flops.

^ Keep up the good work. You have wrote some of the best PTR's on this forum. biggrin.gif

Thank you again!

Goliath looks like airtime heaven! Great pictures again.

It has a lot of airtime and there's no midcourse! Thanks! Most of the pictures are taken by either my mom or dad so the credit goes to them!

Oh yeah! I had taken my flip flops off and set them to the side and fastened the restraints, but when the ride op came she put my flip flops back on for me!laugh.gif
