bkroz
http://www.sixflags.com/overGeorgia/rides/daredevildive.aspx Dare Devil Dive Coaster. Calling all daredevils. In 2011, Six Flags Over Georgia will introduce Dare Devil Dive, a "euro fighter" coaster with an amazing drop that's BEYOND vertical.Dare Devil Dive's mission begins as you're pulled straight up to the sky on a special vertical chain lift, then slowly roll to the top of the tower nearly 100-feet in the air. After an agonizing pause at the crest of the summit, you plummet downward at an angle that is beyond straight down — it actually angles inward at a blistering 52 mph. Then you careen through a thrilling combination of diving loops while executing three inversions before you catch air on a zero gravity hill and swoop across the dreaded Immelman vertical U turn stretched high above the ground. The crescendo builds as the car dives toward the ground and up into a Heartline roll before being slowed by the magnetic brakes. Whew! Dare Devil Dive will be the 11th coaster in Six Flags Over Georgia's already stellar coaster line-up. Gotta love those "dreaded Immelman"s. Additionally, reading over the "by the numbers" box reveals this to be the first roller coaster in the country to feature a "beyond vertical dive!" But... but wait... Maverick? Spongebob's Rock Bottom Plunge? Steel Hawg? Fahrenheit? And sure, those aren't "dive" coasters... But what makes this one? And even assuming that what they meant to say was "the first Euro Fighter style coaster in America to go beyond vertical": Not even. First beyond vertical dive coaster in the county? I'll give 'em that. Still looks like a unique ride, and a good fit for Six Flags Over Georgia.
flightoffear1996
Grr anyone else getting tired of these things.
Beast1979
Looks like a good ride (I thoroughly enjoyed Mystery Mine) but I really hate it when parks make claims like that. Honestly, do they take us for idiots or are they too lazy to do a fact check themselves? Pathetic. Jackson, who's getting his Mind busted...for the first time ever 3 times in a row! bkroz
And it's not even like what Cedar Fair sometimes does, where something is the "tallest, fastest, gravity driven roller coaster on the East coast when the trim brakes are off" and it's a thousand little "fine print" things that allow it to have a record. This is a blatant claim that is incorrect. I know it doesn't really matter, and its marketing and good for them for going for it or whatever, but it just makes me sigh. Haha. Like, I suppose their position is that all other diving coasters are only ninety degrees (Griffin, SheiKra, etc) and that somehow, their Gerstlauer Euro Fighter transcends its model and becomes a dive coaster, which other Gerstlaur Euro Fighters of the same degree of drop and basic layout are not... Just strange!
The Interpreter
Funny, I could have sworn that J fellow was in Texas these days. I guess it was Al calling those shots all along! I think I owe that J feller an apology...perhaps in November....
jdawg1998
Anybody else agree with me when I say: I hate the name. Also, the press release is hilarious stating that it's such a dare devil ride when it goes the very fast, *blistering* 52mph. Wow, I bet you a lot of people will be too afraid of the near 100 foot height. It sounds like a fun coaster though. Just a funny press release. The Interpreter
Remember who press releases are aimed at. A hint. It ain't us.
thekidd33
I think this looks like a pretty neat ride. I haven't ridden either of the other two U.S. Eurofighters but the concept has seemed pretty cool. I think it fit in well at SFOG.
DaveStroem
I am not that big a fan of Mystery Mine. It is OK, but I would rather ride Thunderhead. We will be riding the other North American Euro Fighter on Saturday. SFoG is one of my favorite parks in their chain. I think this will be a good fit. I however felt that a Gerstlauer spinning coaster would have been a better fit.
