Cormaster
So last night me and my wife headed up to Kings Island to check out the haunt. We got there at around 7:45, and left around 11:30. Honestly I was really really impressed! We didn't do any haunted mazes, we mainly just rode rides and checked out the park, but I think I'm going to go back because i had a blast, and honestly it was a totally different experience. As far as rides go, it went like this: Diamondback, Beast, Vortex, Flight of Fear, Racer, and Delirium. Diamondback and Beast are downright amazing at night! Some observations: *The tombstone that says "my beloved son" by The Beast. A reference to Son of Beast perhaps? *Didn't get the Gigantic Enterprise model that was laying in the grass by the Eiffel Tower... Something they had in storage from the Paramount days? Didn't really make sense nor fit the themeing *Coney Mall was creepy... the music they played, and ride parts lying in the grass, the gigantic jack-in-the-box by the aracade, etc made it feel like it was an abandoned amusement park... pretty cool though. *I noticed they were playing some hard rock in Action Zone. While I was riding Delirium I heard "Ticks & Leeches" by Tool. Also heard "Vampires" by Godsmack later on. This is my kinda music so I was all about it! *The Beast is friggen AWESOME at night! I probably haven't ridden it at night since i was a little kid. The high speed, sudden dips, tunnels, and pure pitch blackness really made it a LOT more intense than I'm used to! *Diamondback was pretty awesome at night too. Very dark. Honestly the haunt's worth checking out alone just to get a chance on some of these rides at night! Overall I was there for a short time and drove back the same night, but I had a blast and I will def. be coming back soon, to hit up those mazes! My brother really wants to go so I figure I'll take him out there.
Austin
Lol, how is Flight of Fear amazing at night? (Well, more amazing than it already is? )
Oldiesmann
Try riding Adventure Express at night if/when you go back. It's quite a different experience in the dark as well.
flightoffear1996
Adventure Express had a long line the entire night. The park was surprizing kind of crowded.
Guest TombraiderTy
^The Express line wasn't longer than 20 minutes all night, and it died down drastically at about 10:30.
muppetfan1999
^ That's probably because Adventure Express loads really fast. The only time I've ever seen them take a while was when a little boys seatbelt got stuck. Also, it seems to me that any coaster with tunnels or in the woods is usually pretty good in the dark. alluna
*The tombstone that says "my beloved son" by The Beast. A reference to Son of Beast perhaps? There was another thread about this with some photos and such. Someone might link to it for ya... *Coney Mall was creepy... the music they played, and ride parts lying in the grass, the gigantic jack-in-the-box by the aracade, etc made it feel like it was an abandoned amusement park... pretty cool though. Agreed. Coney Mall has to be one of the best assets the Haunt has. Was the Jack-in-the-box new this year? So creepy! Only thing I could ask is for CarnEvil to move out here and take the Death Row spot. Death Row can move to... another park. Try riding Adventure Express at night if/when you go back. It's quite a different experience in the dark as well. We only had one opportunity to hit a ride on opening night and that is the one we picked. It really is amazing in the dark! We root for Adventure Express like it's the home team. Love it.
Cormaster
Well Flight of Fear was nearly a walk-on... obviously being indoors, the experience is the same day or night regardless, but when you see an awesome coaster that normally has at least a 30 min wait with no line, you gotta hop on it. Ok so it did have a little bit of a wait, but still the line stopped inside the UFO, so it was like 5-10 minute wait. Yeah I thought about AE and how it might be kinda cool. But yeah The Beast was so awesome in the dark, I think i enjoyed it more than even Diamondback in the dark! As for the busyness yeah it was a bit busier than I'd like. I went in Oct '05, however I went during non-haunt hours, and the park was literally dead, and everything was a walk-on. I was kinda hoping for the same, but all things considered it would still be considered not busy, since most rides had a less than 15 minute wait. well from a rider's standpoint... however the mazes were pretty packed and there was no getting near them. We had planned originally to ride more, and keep it going till 1, but I had to work today, and my wife was feeling sick from the fog effects, so we took off early. Oh well I will be back soon!
