CoastersRZ Posted April 27, 2011 Author Posted April 27, 2011 And another casualty of the flood, the Appalachian Festival, scheduled for May 6th, 7th and 8th at Coney Island has now been canceled as well. This was typically the first weekend that the rides were open and served as dry run days for the rides employees. This is the first time in my ten seasons at Coney, that the Appalachian Festival has been canceled due to flooding. Quote
LongliveKingsCobra Posted April 27, 2011 Posted April 27, 2011 Yeah, flood so bad my 550 Dollar Cirque tickets got washed away as well! Thankfully they are letting us pick another show....whoo. Quote
The Interpreter Posted April 27, 2011 Posted April 27, 2011 Yeah, flood so bad my 550 Dollar Cirque tickets got washed away as well! Thankfully they are letting us pick another show....whoo. I trust you meant your FIVE $50 Cirque tickets. If you really meant $550 Cirque tickets in Cinci, Wowsers! Quote
CoastersRZ Posted April 27, 2011 Author Posted April 27, 2011 Well, the cheapest seats were selling for $45! (I was fortunate to score tickets to the dress rehearsal for free). I`m not sure I would pay $550 for a ticket, but I would definitely pay $45 again to see the show, it was that good! Quote
westcoaster Posted April 28, 2011 Posted April 28, 2011 This was in todays Cincinnati paper, Very interesting rare video from the 37 flood. Coney Ilsand still around to this day: Quote
CoastersRZ Posted April 28, 2011 Author Posted April 28, 2011 How was a video in today`s paper? If you mean it was on Cincinnati.com, then yes, I saw that yesterday, as well as about a month ago. The good news is that the river level forecasts are finally dropping the river below flood stage early Saturday morning before really falling off on Monday. Hopefully Cirque du Soleil can have a successful run with the remainder of their limited run here (They are at Coney through May 15th). Quote
TheSnapper Posted April 28, 2011 Posted April 28, 2011 Wow I really hope there isn't much damage.... These storms have been crazy! Quote
LongliveKingsCobra Posted May 1, 2011 Posted May 1, 2011 Yep! 550 Dollar Tickets for two!! I got my tax return back and decided to splurge a little haha I consider it stimulating the economy haha Quote
WWC2003Amy Posted May 17, 2011 Posted May 17, 2011 so question when the river floods the pool do you just filter and treat it once the river goes down or do you have to drain it? Quote
XGatorHead 8904 Posted May 19, 2011 Posted May 19, 2011 Due to the heavy rain this spring, this Friday's sold out Jason Aldean at Riverbend has been postponed until August 19th. http://www.wxix.com/story/14669732/jason-aldean-concert-at-riverbend-postponed http://www.riverbend.org/show_detail.php?id=235 Quote
CoastersRZ Posted May 19, 2011 Author Posted May 19, 2011 Yep. And speaking of the flood cleanup, WLWT Channel 5 has a video and a story up on their website right now. http://www.wlwt.com/entertainment/27954736/detail.html The person vacuuming the pool out, as well as the person at the very end on the golf cart just happens to be my brother, who is one of the pool managers this year. Gordon Bombay Posted May 19, 2011 Posted May 19, 2011 You'd think that with all the flooding issues that they'd re-locate to a location further up river. Quote
CoastersRZ Posted May 19, 2011 Author Posted May 19, 2011 Oh, wait.... And speaking of similarities between the two parks. Kings Island is getting a giant swing ride this year, while Coney is getting a more mellow swing ride this year, just for the little tikes: Quote
