becca011906
Hello all, Last summer i had a rod, plate, and 10 screws placed in my lower leg. The dr. told me they no longer issue cards for people to carry that have hardware. This is mostly he said because all airlines have xray scanners and it's not needed. So now what do i do when i arrive at the park in a few weeks and set off the alarms lol !!!
Guest rcfreak339
Just tell the security guard. Kings Island isn't too strict about that kind of stuff and most certainly won't deny you entrance.

Hank
The hardware in your body is just like mine - made from a non-ferrous metal called titanium. It will not set-off the detectors, however you could be upfront and let security know - just to be nice.
benred23
You really shouldnt have anything at all to worry about considering Kings Island Hardly ever even operates the Metal detectors. I had a Pocket knife in plain visability on my belt when I went last Thursday and walked right through.. There nowhere near as strict as they used to be when they installed those things.. Snowman
I've been every weekend since opening day, and they haven't been on yet. Has KI had any weapon violence in the park? I've seen some rowdy guests but I've never felt threatened.

Jason B
I would not be surprised if we begin to see the Metal Detectors to begin to disappear. They are costly to keep running and as they age they will get harder and harder to find parts for. Like it was mentioned earlier, they very rarely have them on anymore. Guest rcfreak339
Funny story on about park security and just how diffrent KI is compared to others. I was visiting Six Flags Great America in Chicago last year during Memorial Day weekend. I walked up and was practically searched as I would be at a freaking airport besides the taking your shoes off part. I even had to take my belt off and although the told the gaurd; "Sir, If I take off my belt, my pants will fall!" he still made me do it. He made me take out everything in my pocket, my glasses and even tooke out my camera from it's little pouch. I mean, it wasn't a problem or anything but it was crazy seeing Kings Island never checks for bags anymore.
windshawne
I wasn't going to comment, but here goes. I wish to heck Cedar Fair would enforce the dress codes. I am so sick of seeing skanky girls with their low cut shorts unbuttoned and their belly rings hanging out, and pants so ill fitting that the guys have to hold their crotches to keep them up. Call me old fashioned, but when I am sitting in festhouse eating, I don't want to see someone's *** crack exposed and nothing on their top half except a bikini top. That's just plain inconsiderate and gross.

What p***es me off the most is girls walking around in bikini tops. In the two days I've been there this year (one of them not a full day) I have seen at least eight—EIGHT—girls in bikini tops. And I haven't even visited when the waterpark was open yet. Last year, in eight visits, all on days when the waterpark was open, I saw all of one bikini top girl outside of the waterpark. It's ridiculous.
Hank
Yet, still a bit off topic......I agree about the dress code - it seems that anything goes. I hate that and I'm not old-fashioned! I'm also tired of seeing people practically engaging in sexual intercourse and their hands all over their partner's body. For cripe sake, get a room! About two weekends ago I was standing in the DB queue, and got the treat of being behind a couple who couldn't keep their hands off each other. Next time, I will waste the 4 bucks on the pop machine and dump my Coke over their heads.
SOB_TOM
So that you will be thrown out of the park? Not a good $4 investment. The metal detectors are there to give the illusion of safety. Yes, they are turned on (even though pkiboy MUST have inside information contrary to what I have witnessed and my experience working on them,) but what they do is make the guest believe that the park is safer because of the metal detectors and security checkpoint. The sad part is, it works... I have a question for those complaining about the dress code: Do you ever say anything to a nearby employee, or do you hold your comments for GR, or do you just come and complain here? This is going to sound absurd to some, but employees cannot catch everything. It takes guests and employees recognizing issues to make the park a fun place to go. 74Gibson
A few thoughts after reading this thread. I am very grateful to CF for letting us carry in drinks. Thanks, sincerely! I like scantily dressed women because... well, I like women and I think sex is an awesome beautiful thing. But PDA and skanky looking girls annoy me. I sympathize with peiople who don;t like skimpy clothing... but I do. I wish I could act all clean and pure and say that I dopn't but that would be a lie. The thing that drives me crazy are the jailbaiters. I swear, sometimes it looks like they're in a hurry to get to their unwanted teenage pregnancy. Before I offend someone, I have friends who were teenage parents and I don't judge... Until they give me reason to... and they've all given me reason to so far. Just my personal experience that every teenage mom I knew wish they wouldn't have been, even though they love their children dearly. They wish they would have had them later. SOB_Tom is right, The metal detectors create a sense of safety and it probably generates more than enough revenue to cover their expenses. People won't return if they don;t feel safe. Also, the perception of security deters crime. There's research on it. That's the main reason why so many police forces have their cops drive their cars home. More cop cars creates a false sense of being watched more closely. Same thing with KI. I would bet anything that hav ing those metal detectors, used exactly as they have been, has deterred considerable crime.
pcc
I'm glad we don't have to dump out bags anymore. Back when that was REALLY enforced, I had 2 in diapers...talk about a pain, going through diaper bags. Ugh. I have never once felt as though my safety was threatened in the park. Do metal detectors need to be there? Meh, probably not. I go into many crowded public places without them. I would like to think most, if not all, going to an amusement park are there for a day of fun. (Let me be naive) As for clothing, I didn't see anything 'skanky'. Of course, it was in the upper 40's, low 50's during our last visit. Nonetheless, my only gripe is language. No, not at Diamondback, Vortex or the like. But, Planet Snoopy. I know you can't control what comes out of mouths, but what happened to respect (I'm sounding old here) We were there during Math & Science days. One particular day, it was EXTREMELY crowed. My kids were in line for Kite Eating Tree. Three teenage boys practically knocked the girls down, got in front of them. said a few choice words and got on the ride. Screams and a few obscenities were yelled out. Was that necessary? That is a kid ride, afterall. Yes, the ride op said something to them...but later I did get the "What does &$&*( mean?" And that brings me to my final old lady gripe. POV movies. On Beast. My daughter and I were riding with a group of kids. (well, 16 or 17ish year olds) who had a Blackberry out the entire ride...passing between themselves and the riders in the front. There were a few times I thought the thing would fly out of their hands and hit someone. Did I report it? No. It was too crowded, they ran off as soon as we were back at the station, and well, I was tired. I kind of feel sad for the lack of respect for rules and whatnot with this generation. I hope to instill values in my kids that make them respectable members of society. I'd probably slap my kids right on the bottom if I ever caught them doing some of the things witnessed last week /old lady soap box rant finished
jcgoble3
I have a question for those complaining about the dress code: Do you ever say anything to a nearby employee, or do you hold your comments for GR, or do you just come and complain here? This is going to sound absurd to some, but employees cannot catch everything. It takes guests and employees recognizing issues to make the park a fun place to go. Typically, I look around for an employee, but I either can't find one before the violators disappear into the crowd, or the only ones I can find quick enough are busy operating a ride. Then, because I tend to have a short memory, by the time I head out of the park, I've forgotten about it and therefore have no reason to stop at GR. So when I do remember it a few days down the road, I end up just complaining here.

I have been in the position to put an end to skanky people in the park; however, once they go in they either turn their vulgar shirt back out for everyone to read, or they unbutton the shorts again. As far as being thrown out of the park-perhaps the two vulgar parties should be the ones getting kicked out. There once was a thing called public decency which hasn't existed in the past few years. 74Gibson
That was a long quote for a 2 line post. U can just say my name dude... I'm being friendly, in case you couldn't tell I hate disrespect and the cussing teens are not ok. I cuss but not around kids I was just thinking, scantily dressed was a poor choice of woods, as it makes me think Of something that would be too risqué for KI. It's supposed to be a family environment Hey, maybe Gaga should do her park after all:)
