TroikaX3 Posted July 20, 2011 Share Posted July 20, 2011 Sorry if this is in the wrong place, I wasn't sure. Anyway, I am making a trip out to Kings Island for the first time on Monday. I am going for engineering, so I will only have a couple hours for myself to ride what I want to ride. I am going to try and hit Diamondback, Beast, and Firehawk for sure. But when it comes to The Beast, most people sit in the seats that aren't over a wheel, that way the ride is smoother. But I still think the back seat is the best place to sit on The Beast. The Interpreter Posted July 20, 2011 Share Posted July 20, 2011 I wouldn't miss Adventure Express, which I ride in the front seat. The nonwheel seats on Beast and Racer are in the middle of a car. CAR, not the train. There are three rows in each car. For the smoothest ride, ride the middle of a car. For the most airtime but a more violent ride, choose the last row, preferably of the first or last car. For the best view and an air rush, ride the very front row. Some (but not all) of the seat-assigners will make a reasonable effort to accommodate seat requests, but even if they will take requests, there are no guarantees. If you do get a ride op willing to take requests, ask for the front row (best view plus 80 mph wind in your face) or the back (which is where the best airtime is IMO). —Firehawk: Again, you will be assigned a seat. Just take what you get here; you get the same view and IMO the same experience here no matter where you sit (lay?). The only case that could be made (IMO) for a particular seat being better than the others is the end rows, which let you see the riders on the opposite end of the train in the loop. I would say CoasterGeek's estimates are pretty good, though I didn't have to wait more than about 10-15 minutes for The Beast last Friday. It will also depend what time of the day you're riding. Flat Freak Posted July 20, 2011 Share Posted July 20, 2011 —Firehawk: you get the same view and IMO the same experience here no matter where you sit (lay?). "Hang" is probably most appropriate. Diamondback, if the line is down the steps, up the steps, past the vending machines, around (but not in) the speed rails, and out to the entrance, is 20 minutes or less. Full speed rails (which are extremely unlikely on a non-holiday Monday) mean about 50 minutes. Out to the Rivertown Hog Trough Buffet means about 65 minutes. The best seats on Diamondback are front or back. If the wait for row one is long, try to get row two. The view is equivalent and the airtime (including some nice ejector) is great. The back few rows give you some nice floater air throughout the ride and the fun sensation of going fast uphill. If you get the last two rows, try to look backwards during the splashdown for a unique experience. Beast on weekday afternoons can be a near walkon at times. In the evening the lines get longer. Row 1-1 is great for the view. My favorite row is 1-2 or 2-2 for the best combination of view, reduced wait time, and ease of ride. Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

In the middle of July I wouldn't be surprised to see an hour long line all day. Diamondback is usually pretty forgiving with wait times, the longest I've ever waited was 45 minutes, and that was when the park was PACKED. I'd expect a 15 minute wait on a weekday, especially later in the day. With The Beast, I'd expect a 20-30 minute line on a weekday. The two rides I always recommend people ride are The Beast and Diamondback. Flight of Fear, Delirium, Drop Tower, and Invertigo are others, but The Beast and Diamondback are the two highlights of the park for me. On the Diamondback they assign where you sit. If you ask for a specific seat, they MIGHT let you ride in that seat. You have people who prefer riding the Diamondback up front, or in the back. I like the front better, because I find that you get more floating airtime up front, I like the way you hang over the first drop, and I love the view that you get in the front seat (which is worth the extra 10 minute wait). In the back, the airtime is more intense, but there always seems to be less of it to me. The first drop is better in the back, but the whole ride is better and smoother in the front. On The Beast, ride in a seat that sits off the wheels. Each car on the train has 3 rows. Pick the middle row of the train for a smoother ride. My personal favorite seat is the second from the back.
