crowds during halloween haunt

Yep, Saturdays during Haunt are VERY busy. Even Racer had a 30+ minute wait, and Beast at night was 2+ hours. While crowds early in the day were OK (Action Zone was pretty empty when the park opened, only 30 minutes for Invertigo, 15 for Drop Tower, walk-on Flight Deck) by 2:00, the crowds really began to build up. We were still able to ride Adventure Express and Vortex with under 25 minute waits (Vortex's line may look long, but in reality it isn't- I've been out near BLSC and the wait was 20 minutes!), but that was about it. By the time we rode Beast around 11:00, the wait for it was 2 hours. Well worth it, however, as in addition to the usual awesome Beast night ride they added fog effects and cool haunt props for Beast.

This is all based on my visit to Kings Island for Haunt in October 2010.

On a related note, what about Friday nights during Haunt? How bad are the crowds then, and are they generally worse earlier or later in the Haunt season? I'm in the process of working up the courage to try Haunt this year (I'm a big chicken when it comes to being scared), but don't want to have to wait two hours for my first maze only to discover I'm too chicken and leave right away.

Honestly the only scary about Halloween Haunt IS the crowds! I am not doubting jdawg's statement...but I will just say that in all my years of going to Fearfest/Halloween Haunt I would NEVER pick a Saturday over a Friday.

I went on the 2nd last year and it was one of the worst trips ive ever had. It was cold, rainy(not that the weather will be the same) and extremely crowded.

But back before the park had their current coaster rain policy that made a trip even better to thin out the crowds...and as for snow...one of my fondest memories was when it was SO cold and snowed a little bit that we eventually went back to our campground cabin to have some hot chocolate and warm up for our next round! Truly good times. :)
