homestar92
My roommate and I are planning a day trip to Kennywood on Saturday September 2nd. My question is, how are Saturday crowds at that park? Would I have time to ride everything in one day? I've been to KI during Haunt, so I know what a crowded park is like... And I wouldn't like to experience it again, lol. Any information or tips would be nice.
The Interpreter
Not just A Saturday. Saturday of a Labor Day weekend. Chances are excellent the park will be very, very busy.
markr
I find that on three day holiday weekends at KI and CP like Labor Day and Memorial Day weekend, the busiest day is usually Sunday. When I was at CP Labor Day Weekend, the lines on Saturday were surprisingly short while Sunday was packed.
CoastersRZ
I guess it just depends on the park. Coney will be busy on Saturday (hot air balloon race), dead on Sunday, and swamped on Monday, when the union picnics come to the park. I think it just depends on what special promotions the park will be having. I still have never made it to Kennywood. One of these days I`m going to get there... TombRaiderFTW
Can't say much about what the lines will be like, but I will say this: if you're pressed for time at Kennywood, I highly recommend a last-row ride on Thunderbolt. If that's unavailable, Jack Rabbit's last row will also do.
The Interpreter
Just don't be a single rider. As has been said, only God rides alone on Thunderbolt.
TombRaiderFTW
Which I kind of don't understand... Are they afraid that a single rider will somehow injure him-/herself against the side of the car in the turns after the lift? Is it to maximize capacity? Is it required by insurance? The Interpreter
Yes, yes and yes. And rider two helps to keep rider one in the car, part of the restraint system!
TylerRider
I think the Saturday is acually the 3rd, not the 2nd.
The Interpreter
Indeed. Nice catch. We are talking Saturday though, right? Park's not open Friday, the second of September: http://www.kennywood.com/site/hours.html
homestar92
So since it has been determined that the 10th is not Labor Day weekend, would it be a decent day to go? The park is small, so even on a busy day, I should be able to ride everything, right?
