rotag
a fight broke out @ Disney's ride "Tower of Terror". it appears as though the enforcement is there, but according to a lady: WHERE IS SECURITY?! it took some bystanders to wrestle the dude to the ground until the situation became under control. TTD-120-420
That lady was the most annoying part of the video.

UnrealNightmare
People who stand around and laugh and take videos are just as bad as the person who started the fight. And yes the lady is really annoying.
bkroz
WARNING: Video contains profane, offensive language! See also, http://www.swrnn.com/2012/02/20/alleged-drunken-man-taken-down-at-tower-of-terror/ This is Disneyland's Tower of Terror at Disney California Adventure Park (which sells alcohol, unlike Disneyland Park). I imagine the situation arose when a cast member denied the obviously inebriated man access to the attraction (as, of course, the cast member is legally required to). It's a shame this could happen and be a defining moment of someone's trip to such a "magical" place. The security was there. Normal seasonal employees certainly don't carry pepper spray. The problem is getting enforcement there swiftly, and with all cast members busy restraining the guy and crowds blocking the situation from being accessed by people who needed to get there. And my God, what if the man had taken down one of the park patrons who stepped in to restrain him? What will happen to the bellhops who retaliated? Did they do the "right thing" in the Disney handbook? What about lawsuits from a patron who was injured trying to intercede? There's a lot of questions here... HTCO
Glad to see the employees are trying to keep the crowd under control. The situation should have been handled a lot quicker in my opinion. But I believe every employee did their best to try and keep everyone calm. Also, considering this is a "family friendly" website, I would consider giving us a warning for all the foul language. jdawg1998
"Stop! This is Disneyland! This is Disneyland! This is Disneyland! Stop! This is Disneyland!" is pretty much all I heard.
UnrealNightmare
This situation could have been handled a lot better. The woman recording could have put her camera away and called someone or helped move the crowd away. Instead she sat there and just screamed obnoxiously. TTD-120-420
The girl wasn't recording, but yeah she needed pepper sprayed too.
bkroz
She has a point, though! I remember those early photos of Disneyland in the 50's and 60's, patrons dressed to the nines for a day of family fun. Who'd have thought we'd get to this point? Families passing by did hear the things that man was shouting, probably smelled the pepper spray, and might've stopped to take in what they thought was one of Disney's regular crowd-drawing "streetmosphere" spectacles. Guess what their kids will remember when they think of their Disneyland vacation? She wouldn't have had much luck getting through to an enraged, drunk man, but she was saying what I was thinking. Another question: do you think the man came with family or friends? Or did he just decide to spend a lovely day at Disney California Adventure teasing the nectar of the Napa vines and the spirits of the west by himself? UnrealNightmare
Well you get my point whoever was recording could have helped instead of trying to views on youtube.

bkroz
Well you get my point whoever was recording could have helped instead of trying to views on youtube. Helped how? Do you think officials at the Walt Disney Company would've asked its patrons to step in and restrain the man? Better yet, how do you think they'd respond when one of those "helpful" guests got clobbered in the mouth and sued the resort for letting the obviously drunk man stumble around private property in the first place?
UnrealNightmare
I'm not talking about physically helping here. they could have moved out of the way or told families with little children to come back later. You don't have to get physically involved to help a situation.
bkroz
It's like a car crash. You just can't look away, right? There's an almost dystopian scene playing in my head where a screaming belligerent man is sprayed and wrangled by a neatly dressed Disney security guard, and everyone simply carries on down the road, walking past it without a glance... Yes the onlookers were annoying and less-than-helpful in that regard, but... Wait, what are we getting at here? Ideally people would move out of the way... But come on. UnrealNightmare
And unfortunatey that's how more people get hurt then need to be. By standing around and watching it drew more peoples curiosty then need be. People standing around and watching just draws more people into the situation, and can inevitably cause more damge. HHauntFanatic
This is Disneyland's Tower of Terror at Disney California Adventure Park (which sells alcohol, unlike Disneyland Park). I imagine the situation arose when a cast member denied the obviously inebriated man access to the attraction (as, of course, the cast member is legally required to). Yet again, greed wins over everything else. If there's one place that shouldn't be serving alcohol, it's a Disney park. If people become upset about no alcohol being served, tough luck. I'm a drinker myself, but for God's sake if an adult can't go a couple of hours at a Disney park without having to have a drink, then they have issues. Also, I don't know if Disney has an actual police force or not, but if not, they need one. Sadly, with the way the world is these days, these type of places should have professional police forces and not just "Paul Blart the mall cop" types making minimum wage. That guy needed to be restrained and handcuffed because he was a danger to others. Hopefully, this forces Disney to review their policies. The Interpreter
There was a time when Paramount didn't sell alcohol at Kings Island. That didn't last long. Why is it more appropriate to sell alcohol at Kings Island than at California Adventure? And know that most guests stay the entire day at California Adventure.
HHauntFanatic
Because Disney seems to be more kid-centric, whereas parks like Kings Island or Cedar Point seems to appeal to everybody. Disney's whole image is about family and kids. It just seems so below them to have an incident like this happen. As annoying as the woman in the video was, she had a point when she said "your in Disneyland, there are kids here."
The Interpreter
California Adventure is not kid-centric. Disneyland is. Disneyland does not sell alcohol.
bkroz
^^ And for as much as Disneyland is meant to represent youth and imagination and fantasy, California Adventure was build to combine all the best aspects of California's history and present. For some, California's wine country is an attraction unto itself, and thus it was made into an attraction unto itself at California Adventure. Likewise, you can buy domestic beers at Paradise Pier. The same principle applies at Disney World, where The Magic Kingdom doesn't sell alcohol, but Epcot does. After all, its World Showcase area invites guests to experience nations from around the world, and in much of the world, alcoholic beverages play a large roll in cultural celebrations and day-to-day life. Just because one fellow can't control himself doesn't mean alcohol should be banned at California Adventure (though a principle like that was in place at Kings Island). PREMiERdrum
I'd love to know which cast member thought it was OK to continue serving this gentleman? I've seen guests refused service at Epcot for being too inebriated, and I'm sure the same serving rules apply in the CA parks as well. Titan
From experience, I can tell you that sometimes it is very hard to tell whether someone is drunk or not, depending on how much they have drank.
The Interpreter
A Disney employee. That being said, not every drunk can be seen as such in the seconds it takes to get in the park. Moreover, if the drinking was right before entry, the intoxication would be later.
