crosscountry4891
Last night, I got to PKI for the first time this season. (Yeah yeah, I've been busy lately). So during my 20 minute wait for The Beast I watch a little of the 25th anniversary documentary and during it, there's a place where it says that The Beast goes 70 mph. I know for a fact that it goes 65 mph, because it states that here and at rcdb. Anyone know how or why they put that in the video?
Dane
Typo, miscommunication, wind, brakes, temp, etc.
TheRickster
Roller coasters do not have a set speed. They differ on many diffrent conditions. Especially the wooden ones. 70mph is sorta the record I believe but that speed had caused alot of stress on the track. So they slowed it down to keep it in its best shape. Without the brakes it would be alot like sob...
PkiJake13
Does anyone know if they will sell it in the gift shops. I would buy it even if it was 30.00-40.00 dollars.
DeLorean Rider
yea like it says that Millennium force goes 92 miles per hour but i know that on hot days its been clocked up to around 100. I doubt they would sell somthing like that. One can only hope.
DeliriumDreamer
well, velocity isn't a constant. I guess how fast the ride can go depends on the weather, the weight of the cargo, etc...
UntamedBeast
actually The Beast only goes 56 mph.... and i know because i watched the speedometer... second most of the other facts are correct... the reason they put it up there is because The Beast is having its 25th aniversary... PKI Homey
I would like to purhcase this video as well. Maybe if PKI gets many requests, they will sell the video at a later date. So, all people interested in buying this video, I would suggest calling PKI and making a formal request. Although, I'm not sure what department you would talk to. beastdude
It might be possible that The Beast got up to 70 but I highly doubt it.
coasterdime
I remember when The Beast opened. That first year, it was touted as hitting 70 mph. Guinness published a top speed of 64.77 mph. (if my memory is clear) I can remember the structure violently swaying on the last curve before the 2nd lift, so either it has been slowed down...or the structure has been reinforced. (or both) UntamedBeast, I like your sig. When the ride opened it was touted as the "biggest, baddest, longest, fastest coaster in the world" God, I feel old.... As for the video, I'll poke around a little to see if it will be made available. A friend of mine is featured on it.
WildCat
Not sure on the Video. PKI is not well know for selling videos of the park for some reason. I bet someone from the press got a copy of video on Media day for the local news. The only bad thing about that is the tape can not leave the building. I got to see BB video when Jeff came by for a show when I was co-oping.
coasterdime
I wonder why they are so bad about not allowing tapes out there. Cedar Point sends me a press kit almost every year, with either a DVD or a VHS. I just got on a mailing list when I was in contact with a PR person there a few years ago. coasterrz
I finally saw the entire video this past weekend. It was very well done in my opinion. I just wish I could have actually seen the entire thing. The glare off of some of the televisions was rather bad when I was in line. Also, there were some parts where I was standing in line too far away from a monitor see the video. I would like to have a copy of the documentary, if they are selling it.
KillerCroc
That Documentary is awsome I wonder if PKI would sell copys but then after seeing it so many times the video would get boring now wouldnt it?
coasterdime
Honestly, no.
beastdude
That Documentary is awsome I wonder if PKI would sell copys but then after seeing it so many times the video would get boring now wouldnt it? It would be cool if they sold it and added extra scenes.
PKI Homey
It's too bad that they are not known for selling videos about their park. This is the greatest way of self-promotion. I mean, up at Cedar Point, you can buy the video shown on the Discovery Channel called the World's Largest Amusement Park. I have a copy and have watched it several times. I'm not bored of it yet. coasterdime
^^LOL. Remember, moderation is the key here. Just watch any video 4 times, and then put it away.
