May 3, 201214 yr The park stated much more than just ..."we needed more space for our show..." WildCat was coming to the end of its useful life. With the desired expansion to Celebration Plaza, coupled with the low ridership and increased maintenance costs, Cedar Point has decided to accelerate the removal of the ride. There you go.
May 3, 201214 yr ^ That is the kind of stuff that only proves I have the smoothness of a blacksmith when it comes to being PC.

May 7, 201214 yr I wish it wasn't in such bad condition so that they could move it to another park. Wildcat is a good time, but a mechanical nightmare. I hope it's replacement is worth it.
May 7, 201214 yr Why wouldn't they try to sell it or transfer it to another park (i.e. Demon Drop)? Apparently, the ride has been having significant mechanical issues over the past few years due to its age. Also, steel does tend to weaken/soften after a significant amount of time, which may make a careful dismantling process near impossible. For a good example of this, check out some of the pictures of the Great American Screem Machine during its dissasembly to see just how much old steel can weaken once its allowed to morph. The materials currently used for the ride's structure may soon find a new life as someone's car, the skeleton of a building, or even a new coaster.
