Old Park Maps

Featured Replies

I agree with jdawg, these are wonderful. I wouldn't have the time (nor patience) to do this, and I commend you on this.

The early Paramount maps are kinda... Bland.

That is really cool to see all those together, thanks a ton for sharing these!

I second that. From 1992 - 1997 they are so ugly!

2004 the year I found paradise, thanks for posting!

Thank you very much for posting these. I especially like the maps from the 1990's and early 2000's. :D

A correction for the Original Poster:

The map you list as "2001.1" is actually the 2000 Park Map...no mention of Nickelodeon Central (which was new for 2001) and it still says NEW- Son of Beast (which opened in 2000).

However, thanks for posting these! ^_^

Ok thanks! ill fix that!

Thanks for posting that, I loved the little walk through time, that and every park map let open a flood gate of memories. Thanks So much DBinternational!

Interesting. There are a few you missed (+ in higher resolution) here.

I usually only post if I can find the high-res versions + will almost always contact the original source of the image (if I don't personally own it) and give them credit with the image. Nice collection, but at least cite your sources man.

Okay, so why did the Log Flume (sorry, Race For Your Life, Charlie Brown) disappear from the 2000 map only to reappear in 2001? Was it closed that season?

Also, thanks for posting these. I had been thinking there was a second wooden coaster right next to the Scooby Doo/Woodstock Express at some point, but now I don't see it on any of the maps. It also turns out that the Keelboat Canal wasn't where I remembered it. This is a good example of how our memories fail us.

I love historical maps and you've done a good job collecting them all. Like LongLiveKingsCobra said, it is quite a walk down memory lane and I appreciate the work you've done.

EDIT: I really wish they'd bring back The Rotor!

I believe the log ride was closed that whole year to prepare for its being annexed to the new Nickelodeon Central for 2001.

My brain keeps trying to interpret the plane and balloon on the 1978 map as Start Trek's Enterprise! I may be more geek than I thought.

The park from 87 looks like an engineer must have drew it up!

True! If you want effective, but boring, call one of us. :D

No. It was to be removed. Loud public outcry transferred that fate to KCKC instead.

Terp, I may be wrong, but wasn't it closed for its transformation to Wild Thornberry's River Adventure? I remember it being closed, but never thought it was supposed to be permanent... KCKC was removed specifically for Lara Cro... I mean The Cry... I mean that big empty box.

:-)

Ah I love seeing the old maps from about 99-2004, really brings me back to the days when Kings Island seemed like a place that was so far away and when I got to go it was like I was on a vacation.

I have visited the park regularly since 1992. I'm amazed at how much the park has changed in the last 20 years, as compared to the first 20 years. 1992 doesn't look a whole lot different than 1972.

The ride was to be permanently removed. It was announced. Last rides at end of 1999 season. I was on one of the very last ones.

After a loud public outcry about removing a ride that was moved to KI from Coney Island, Paramount Parks relented, and the ride was saved. Tomb Raider: The Ride then went in where KCKC was.

I just have to say what an interesting story! Definitely didn't know that nugget of information.
