Hands Up on Rides

My guess is simply to flaunt the fact that you're not holding on.

While we're on this note, has anyone kept their hands up all the way down on The Beast's hill? I always inherently draw my hands down right before entering the tunnel because it seems like it's low clearance. Does anyone else do that?

While we have signs and warnings about keeping your hands up all over the place on Beast, people still do it. People just don't realize that the walls in the tunnels are very close to the train. What I do to prevent any injury from occuring is by putting my hands in what I call the "Superman Pose". I hold my hands out forward instead of up, and lock my hands together. That way, they won't go jerking off to the side where something could potentially happen. If you do still wish to ride hands up, I recommend this technique on Beast, and other rides with tunnels. Your hands are still not touching the bar in front, but they are still very close to the train, and since there is nothing in front of the train but air, there is no danger to hitting anything.

That could cause some severe damage to your arms/wrists/hands if you did actually hit the "roof" of the tunnel. Does anyone know about how fast the coaster train is travelling when it hits that powerful helix? It seems EXTREMELY fast to me.

Yeah, i have been doing that for years now. You would think after all this time I would be able to keep them up.

I do not put my hands down at all except for on the second lift of Beast. I love riding in the back of the train on the left while going through the helix and watching everyone in front of me drop their arms when they get to the tunnel while I still have mine up. Occasionally I'll ride closer to the front on the left and keep my arms up and listen to people comment about how close my hands got to the tunnel.

i always keep my hans up on any ride ALL the time. the only time i don't is like on Vortex during the turnaround (after first drop) because it's so rough i have to hold on to save my head..lol

/\ you might be talking about me who hit my hands on the tunnel. i did so the first time i rode it like 2 or 3 years ago (after second lift)

hands up all the way all the time!! I paid for it though when I was 12, I broke my hand on beast, but i knew it was my fault and so did my parents so nothing happened. The only ride I can't seem to put my hands up on is Vortex because of the over head restraints. By the way last time i rode Vortex on monday , this never happened before until monday but, my head rattled in the restraints and my mouth was bleeding as i came off the ride... didnt Vortex used to be alot smoother?
