HWBeast1039
According to their Facebook page, Santa Claus is under a Level 1 water restriction, so Holiday World has voluntarily closed Pilgrims Plunge. Hopefully it rains soon!
The Interpreter
Radio reports indicate they have also canceled fireworks displays for the time being.
KIfan1980
Terpy - in a recent facebook post, they indicated that "due to the extreme hot and dry weather" there would be no fireworks on te 4th. I don't know how often they typically do fireworks.
The Interpreter
This made the WSB radio news down here in Atlanta.
beastrider97
I got nervous for a moment and thought the ride was closed for good. That would be a major monetary loss for the park.

HWBeast1039
There is no end in sight for this drought! I live 2 hours away and the grass is crusty and brown. We had some rain last night, but not enough to do anything.
windshawne
I think that's a wise decision. Having been through a fire when I lived in Cali, you have to be real careful.
TheCrypt
Why would Holiday World close just one water attraction, instead of the low capacity/unpopular water slides/attractions in Splashin' Safari? Seems almost useless to a person who doesn't know a whole lot about this subject.
The Interpreter
It depends on how much water each attraction uses. You can trust that HW has made the wisest decision under the circumstances.
KIfan1980
I would imagine it is based upon the water use vs heat benefit. PP is a likely heavy water user but doesn't provide much heat relief. The waterpark on the other hand is a place for people to go on a hot day to cool off.

My grass is crusty and brown as well, and I live on the shores of Lake Erie.Currently, we are 3" under normal precipitation for the year, and there is no end in sight
thekidd33
June was the second driest month on record for us here in Indy.
Titan
Yeah it's really dry in Brookville too. All the rain we got the other day did not even make a slightest difference.
